Not that ive seen much of him over the last few years, he'd sure be a surprise signing - especially for the money quoted. The type of wide player we could do with, however I'm not sure of the quality.

Can't really see Blackburn letting him go, unless it was for a fee much more than his worth... At the moment Yakubu's the difference between them staying up and going down...

Realistically all we need is wing cover and a striker.

Given Hoilett's contract situation i'd actually be surprised if we didn't go for him.

I'm not going into fantasy land with all the fantastic foreign strikers we could buy but if we limit ourselves to the premiership then Demba Ba and Clint Dempsey seem by far the best of those who we could actually get.

Timing is also important when signing players. Buying players on good form or who have recently been bought such as Ba and Ruiz means the club is unlikely to sell unless for a huge fee. Zamora is currently out of favour and we might be able to do a deal especially if we offer Pav on loan.

I think because of Hoillett's age he won't be a free transfer at the end of the season but as we know from Bostock that a tribunal fee can be a joke. Blackburn might choose to keep him until the end of the season as saving themselves from relegation is worth much more than the transfer fee. Worth a bid though.

Podolski would be useless in England I fear. Gets Homesick easily. He is the sort of player that probably could have come to England ages ago but there must be a reason why he hasn't, also why he couldn't make it at bayern.

That said he is still surprisingly young and would certainly fill a number of roles for us and at around 12m I can see why arsenal are interested.
