And Spursking will be distraught. God only knows what he'll do if Ramos decides Zokora is surplus to requirements.

You naughty boy, SS57. :eek:mg:

But to plough the same furrow, if Kaboul gets sent to Doncaster to learn some defensive discipline, there will be some deeply unhappy bunnies...

i would have thought we should have sent him on loan for a short while but we dont seem to ever like sending our most talented youngster away on loan to get experience

Just a point to remember - ask any player who's arse is making a print in the bench, at any club, anywhere in the world, if they would rather be playing in the first team, i doubt you'll hear many say, "nah, this bench is pretty comfy, as benches go...".

'course, there'll be one or two who people can name who are happy picking up a fat cheque as backup, getting maybe one or two games in cup competitions, but as a whole the majority would much rather be playing than sitting on the bench.

Now, give that to a journo and "of course i'd rather be playing in the starting lineup" becomes, "I'm unhappy i'm not getting in the first team, the manager isn't taking me seriously and at the first chance of a game i'm off, mate".

I expect that this is likely somewhere near the mark for 90% of these "want out" stories that spring up in the papers, but this instantly unsettles any fringe player amongst his teammates and amongst the staff, even if it's just a tiny bit.

Power of the press i'm afraid, just have to remember to take everything with a big heaping bowl of salt, until it shows on the official site

be calm, my friends... be calm.

I have to say that I am dissapointed not to see Adel Taarabt involved in the 1st team, and I hope this is not true. I hope that he has a better attitude than that, because he is a great player, and I really want him to stay at Spurs.
I think this question has been asked of you before SK, seriously, how old are you? :duh:

If you say you are say under 15 years of age, then I will know how to respond to your postings which on the whole seem to be coming from a very juvenile mind.

No insult intended, less of course you tell me otherwise.

OK, so he's been away on International duty... does anyone know how he fared?

Did he feature? Did he do well?

He's a talent, that's for sure, and he's got confidence in abundance. With the right coach to harness all that, he could go far. Just not yet - he's a long way from the finished product based on what we've seen and lots of reserve reports.

Taarabt will take a while to be worthy of playing in the first team. From what we've already seen, he has talent, but it is raw. He can be worked into a great player with gradual experience and training. No player no matter how high potential people believe them to be should play without first proving himself on the training ground.

To a great future prospect

That was the assumption. Does anyone know what this tournament was and where it took place?

He's actually been getting his ears pinned back and having his tongue glued to the bottom of his mouth,to prevent it lolling about while running.

Don't worry he'll be back soon.

He would walk into any team in the prem, if he had signed for arsenal he would be playing first team football he would get at least 20 mins a game, even with our shitty midfield he can even get a game, i find it strange.

IMO hes too good for us anyway we finally get a good youngster and he don't play as

Well give some examples. What is this thought based on? Surely if it was that simple as a team adapting then someone would have done something about the way the English national side play, as during every International tournament it is pointed out how much more comfortable the continental and South American sides are on the ball. If the best players this country has to offer struggle to play the intricate, quick passing game we see the likes of Spain and Argentina playing, then what makes you think a coach can come along and do so at Spurs?

It seems that football history is littered with cases of good coaches going to new clubs and failing. Why do you think this is? They can't have just become bad coaches. Why did such a good coach as Wenger fail at Nancy? What happened at Monaco? He didn't go from being a Championship winning coach to an idiot in the space of a few seasons. The reason he gave was that they bought the wrong players. What happend to Hector Cuper. Took Valencia to 2 CL final twice in a row, but at inter and Mallorca he couldn't make the same impact. And most significantly what about Caparos. Took Sevilla from division 2, to 6th in La Liga, but when he got a "bigger" opportunity with Depor, things didn't work out.

The point is, good coaches can and very often do, fail to succeed with good groups of players. The key reason for this, is that it isn't just about having good players, but the right players, the players that suite the way a particular coach wants to play. Therefore the most important part of the Coach and Director of Football relationship surely has to be a shared appreciation of the same kind of players. Now when I look at the player we have in our squad and compare them to those in the Sevilla squad i see two very different groups. Hence, given the 3 years of team building we've undergone since 2004 and the fact we have been 5th twice, i see him as an odd appointment. I think for Ramos to succeed he has to be given the opportuinty to bring in a number of new players, which is against the whole point of our structure.

Joey, a couple of things occur to me. You make some valid points but I would say is that we do have some talented, quick, technical and with a the right coach up em', industrious. King, Lee, Chimbonda, Lennon, Berbatov, Malbranque, Jenas. So like all the managers you mention he does have a reasonable nucleus.

If you look at Sevilla's current squad it does contain a plethura of nationalities. I posted the other day in another thread the full list but it includes africans and other europeans. Now I understand what you are saying about he may require some spanish/latin american players to shape the team in his mould but I think he has proved he can get the best from other nationalities too.

I think winning two EUFA cups proves that Ramos can adapt to different styles and react to the opposition.

I also think that it is not quite so relevant as he will not be facing other "spanish style" opposition week in week out and perhaps realises that the exact formula for Spain is not the same here ?

Last summer we were trying to sign Nani. I think we have also been interested in spanish/Portuguese players (Rocha) which shows Camoli is not scared of the Spanish/Portuguese market.

Most importantly though, I think that history isn't littered with managers that win 5 trophies in quick success in a major league, playing good football based on a work ethic. And despite any doubts some may have sometimes in football you have to inovate and break new ice. Yes arsenal had strong foundaions when Wenger got there but his approach was different to any of them were used to. His methodology different to anyone coaching in the premiership at the time. It was clear that Jol was not going to take us to where we want to go.

Surely Taarabt is a prime candidate to be loaned out. Give him some first team football for a lower club so he can learn to use his skills in a more influential way in the Premiership.

I really like the kid and I think that he has shown he is willing to learn. During his last couple of appearances for us he appeared to be making a mental effort to turn and look for a pass, rather than just running toward the opposition.

A potential talent, but is so far from breaking out starting XI in terms of reliability and consistency that a loan spell is surely the only way to give him first team footy.

Here you go, direct from the FFF website (translated into english) with the qualifying matches for the French U19 team in the qualifying tournament from 22nd to 31st of October. Adel played all 3 matches. Apparently the tournament ran from September 24th until November 15th.

I'm not sure how the French Academy works these days, but I know in the past they have beenvery successful playing the players directly out of the academy. I'm sure in the past all the players would get together and spend long periods at the academy around tournaments. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that squad had been together for a number of weeks before the qualifying tournament.

Came on as a sub in the last game, but started the first 2. France did well though. Drew with Greece, then thumped Luxembourg 5-0 and Slovenia 2-0. I guess Adolf Treebeard will be disappointed to not have scored when his side racked up 9 goals between them. Sadly there is no hint if he played any kind of part in the goals.

France now go on to the elite round in April/May, so Adolf won't be around for the culmination of our season. Could be a shame if we're out of the running for a Uefa Cup spot by then. But there again thats pure Bolshy talk.
