I would settle for a top 10 finish at the moment, considering what a disaster we've been so far in the league, plus ANY cup would be amazing

I'd like to qualify for Europe. That would be my achievable target. Though, we're going to have to work v hard to get it.

We'll have to hope the bigboys win both FA and League cups to stand a really good chance, but I'd hate for us to bank on that. COYS.

We'd have to do worse than we have so far to finish 6th. One of the benefits, perhaps the only one, of having such a tough start to the season is that our upcoming games are going to be far easier. Last season we sort of stumbled our way through to Januaray and then got some confidence, this year we could get some confidence boosting results from now till xmas and the pessimistic bastards might actually realise that we really do have a shot at 4th. With some belief from the fans the players should get a boost in the harder games at the start of 2008

I sat and filled in the whole bbc predictor yesterday (being as realistic as possible only taking the odd point off the big four) and we finished 5th again but way behind arsenal manu chelsea and liverpool. So 5th it is and three cups!

Id take 6th and a cup anyday!
I think 7th is more realistic, but that will probs get us european qualification.
I have funny feeling that we will get into the final of the UEFA cup, and maybe win it! I hope!

IMO the people saying we can't get top 6 are the ones living in Cuckoo land. There are about 5-6 teams who could finish 5th-6th and we are included in that. Regardless of our league position, we are a run of 4 good games away from being there or there abouts.

Similarly, although our form so far this season hasn't shown this, we are a better squad this year than last and with the addition of Bale and Kaboul, a better first 11 too. Lets not forget, despite the fact we lost to the scum last year, it was far from a walk over and we were in it right upto the third goal in extra time. A cup is well within our potential this year.

There are 29 league games left this year, any talk of 5th-6th being impossible is nonsense
:stupid: .

We have a better squad.
We are still in the 3 cups.
We are scoring goals, lots of them possible more than any team in all competitions, and this despite only 1 of our 4 top class strikers being "on form".
King will be back for the "business end" of the season.
And the first step to winning something is to believe you can (after of course letting Robinson have a rest to get his head and hands sorted).

and Come on you Spurs pessimists, cheerup and enjoy the ride.

i wouldn't rule the top 4 out just yet. The top 2 places are more or less decided (manure and arse) but with liverpool and chelski both showing signs of inconcistency, i think a good run of form (similar to end of last season) could see us rise up the table rapidly. Citeh won't stay 3rd for much longer. As crazy as it sounds, i still think it's in our own hands.

We just need ledders back and fit ASAP. A new goalkeeper won't do much harm either as robbocop is nothing but a calamity waiting to happen.

I think Citeh have really made a convincing push for a top four finish as well - if they can keep up their form til the new year then they'll be hard to catch as well... Waffa next year for them, at least.

At least they know where to put their money and how to build a team. Build from a SOLID defence, with an experienced DM that knows what it's about.

Yes, the one thing Psycho got right was the defence; they'd be in the Championship this season if he hadn't. Some people on here scoff at Dunne, but he does what it says on the tin and he's a perfect foil for Richards. Psycho didn't use Hamann much, presumably because he had Barton, but this season he's held their midfield together while others do the eye-catching stuff (I have all this from my City-supporting brother-in-law). Their full-backs are pretty decent too.

Think top 6 is still in our sights with a good run, now that we've got the top four out of the way for a couple of months, this should boost our team moral. Think we'll have a good run in the UEFA cup & a win in any of the other two would be amazing.

7th or higher plus FA Cup/UEFA Cup would be fantastic.

As I've said before 9th and the Lge cup would make happy, indeed very happy come to think of it. Especially if linked with another decent Cup run.

Firstly, I'd take a cup win over anything else. In 20 years time you won't remember the glorious season where we came fifth but you will remember a day out at Wembley/or wherever the UEFA final is.

Secondly, I still think we will be top six as we are all aware we do actually have a top quality side even though the table doesn't reflect it at the moment.

Thirdly, worrying about sides like City is pointless as they will drop away in the second half of the season due to their paper thin squads. Conversely, we will improve due to our depth.

Fourthly:grin:, I made pretty much exactly the same post at this time last season before anyone starts on about being over-optimistic.
