I know we won't know on the fitness of certain players but I can't see Lamela or Townsend being back for this. Lets hope Ade and Dembele are ok and Sandro can return.

Possibly the biggest game of the season IMO. A direct rival for fourth, the momentum we could take from a big performance and the three points could be huge, we simply have to sort this home form out to stand any chance.

Everton still remain pretty tenacious even though they have a different style now. I don't want to see the same line up at Hull, I'd also give Bentaleb a rest for this one even though he was good at Hull- Everton are gritty in the middle and this is a huge game. Having said that if Dembele and Sandro aren't fit he'll be in. He'll probably start anyway so pretty moot.

Not going to bother naming a team in an ideal world I'd start, I'll just go for the best I can hope for given what Tim is likely to do.

Lloris

Walker
Dawson
Vertonghen
Rose

Sandro/Capoue
Dembele/Bentaleb
Paulinho

Lennon
Adebayor
Eriksen

Many won't go for Lennon, but he'll be playing for sure. Townsend and Lamela won't be in contention. Paulinho is very attack minded, so lets go with three in the middle with him as the AM instead of just two with him pushing on leaving us ripe to be picked off by Everton. So yeah I'd take Soldado out and beef up the middle....Paulinho getting up and supporting Ade.

We can always revert to 4-4-2 and bring Soldado on later on in the game if needs be. Better than starting 4-4-2 and it going Pete Tong, then what do you do?

But for me that's the key although I'm not convinced we'll see it.

Without Townsend and Lamela available - hopefully they'll be in our PL-11 when they're back.

Lloris
Walker - Kaboul/Chiriches - Verts - Rose
Paulinho - Sandro - Bentaleb
Eriksen - Ade - Chadli

I know I'll end up doing a side but to be honest, it doesn't matter what personnel we choose to use because guaranteed we'll see the same open chaotic performance in midfield and the same calamitous defending.

The only indeterminable aspect is whether we get good Adebayor or bad Adebayor.

PS - how fucking demoralising for Chadli when Lennon gets a free pass every game - I'd want out too!

I'm hoping he'll revert back to a similar side/set up we saw against Swansea. That's the way to go IMO....Paulinho instead of Chadli.

Townsend and Lamela aren't fit BG. Well physio room (I know!) has them listed for the 12th.

my team was definitely more out of hope i confess. i have a feeling townsend will be back for this one though, lamela on the otherhand will be back on the 12th of never.

A bit chalk and cheese though to compare an away game to a slow and methodical (not to mention, confidence bereft) Swansea to a strong and direct Everton side at home where traditionally we have struggled to break sides down when the onus is on us to dictate play.

Need to use possession wisely and have Eriksen buzzing around Adebayor in distributing the ball well in dangerous territory.

No idea what we will line up in the middle of the park though - will Sandro and Dembele be deemed fit? Will Bentaleb keep his place? Will we finally look to utilise a defensive midfielder from the outset?

This will be a good acid test for sure.

What exactly is Townsend's injury as one minute he was in training, the next he's out without a mention.

As for Lamela, well fuck knows what is going on there...

I don't think Everton will come to sit deep, they'll come to play like they did at the Emirates. They're not the direct type either anymore, they get it down and pass it about. We need to be wary of that.

We need to be ambitious but also mindful of being too exposed.

he came back, played 45mins in the U21's and there was talk his hamstring was playing up again.

No idea if true or how bad

Not direct Stoke-esque but definitely attacking with more purpose and vigour than Swansea would - especially down the flanks and full backs.

Everton will believe more than ever they can come to WHL and be able to match us but thank Christ Lukaku is out as we are simply woeful defending big, powerful and aerially dominant strikers and if I was Martinez, I'd definitely be playing Traore against whatever combination we can muster, be it Dawson, Vertonghen and Chiriches.

If Townsend & Lamela are still out, I'd seriously consider playing Dembele on the right. Played there vs Liverpool last season & was MOM iirc. Will surely give Baines more of a game than Lennon, plus he was an attacking player before moving to Fulham.

Lloris

Walker
Chiriches
Vertonghen
Rose

Sandro
Paulinho

Dembele
Eriksen
Chadli

Adebayor

Don't expect it to happen, but the XI above look solid defensively & powerful going forward

That may be so but the lack of information is annoying, bordering on embarrassing - especially as far as Lamela is concerned.

That's why its imperative we don't leave ourselves too exposed. We don't want them taking advantage of too much space in our half. Have to be alert on the cover etc.

Same team as last week but with Chadli or Siggy in for Soldado(if Ade isnt fit). Or Dembele in for him, if Dembele is fit. Bloody obvious.

Then good coaching has to come to the fore and a much more concerted effort is needed off the ball in getting our shape and defensive discipline right.

Picking the right personnel is only the first step in the right direction but it'd be a good bloody start for Tim!
