Then good coaching has to come to the fore and a much more concerted effort is needed off the ball in getting our shape and defensive discipline right.

Picking the right personnel is only the first step in the right direction but it'd be a good bloody start for Tim!

The application has to be right, goes without saying, but we don't want to get outnumbered in the middle with Barkley dropping in, much like Rooney would do for United, if we're set up the same as yesterday.

I'd keep Bentaleb, alongside Sandro, as I think we could do with his decisive passing and Sandros busyness.

I would also be reluctant to play anymore than 2 of; Eriksen (hot and cold), Soldado (cold), Lamela (not settled), Townsend (inexperienced just back from injury), Lennon (out of form) and Chadli (inexperienced). I think we need to abandon the wingers for the time being, they simply aren't performing and aren't worthy of an automatic place and certainly not a formation tailored to them. Instead I'd want us to try and emulate Arsenal styles with the full backs pushing up as makeshift wingers.

------------------Lloris----------------
Walker----Dawson---Kaboul----Verts
------------Sandro---Bentaleb---------
----Dembele---Paulinho----Eriksen----
-------------------Ade------------------

I'd be looking to introduce any from the above list if we were either in a good position or in need of a change.

Everton always give us trouble down the left (usually Coleman) so I'd prefer to see Chadli out there on the right. I'm sure Bentaleb will be first name on the team sheet but he will need Sandro or Capoue next to him. Fully expect the team to contain none of the above though, apart of course from Bentaleb.

Do you not mean Chadli on the left? Coleman is a RB.

I think we'll see

Lloris

Walker
Dawson
Verts
Rose

Lennon
Dembele
Bentaleb
Eriksen

Paulinho

Ade

Reckon those will be the players too. I'd rather Kaboul in for Dawson, and I'd like to see that pushed into a proper 4-3-3, but otherwise it's probably what Tim will go for.

This would be my absolute first choice eleven injuries permitting.

I'm baffled why anyone thinks Eriksen can play on the left. It completely unbalances us and as a result he is less effective. His best performance recently has been at Swansea when we played a 433 and he could dictate from the middle of the pitch. So for me, that is where he has to play - for both his own benefit and the benefit of the overall team.

If Sherwood is to play Bentaleb again, he needs to unshackle him and let him roam further upfield so that his forward passing and shooting could be more of a threat.
