Really like that side actually.
Tbh I've never understood why people do it going down...it makes more sense to me to do it with the keeper at the bottom and the striker at the top, that way when you say left back for instance, it's actually the man on the left.Just for a second I thought you had Soldado in goal and Lloris up front.

Where to begin with this?
Lamela isn't a striker, so it wouldn't really be a 4-4-2, more of a 4-4-1-1 and considering AVB's use of midfielders, wouldn't be just continue using a 4-2-3-1 instead?
Also, why would be play Dembele out wide? Which is what I'm assuming you're doing since you have him with Townsend. Dembele can play out wide, but it's a real waste considering he isn't very fast and is obviously a central midfielder. At that point, we'd play somebody else out there like Lennon or Sigurdsson. If anything, going off of those 11, Holtby would be the one out there.
What this formation does is either take away our midfield presence by creating a disconnect between Sandro/Holtby and Lamela, considering Lamela is not a very physical player and wouldn't likely come into the midfield. The other, and more likely, result would be that it gives us absolutely no depth. Dembele would constantly be coming back into the middle off of the field, with Townsend being an inverted winger and Lamela cutting as well. It would create a crowded space from the top of their box and midfield, because the defense could just sit in without us getting wide and defend comfortably. Also, Soldado would be isolated and having to work in a crowded penalty area with little to no service.

Lamela not starting according to his brother..
- Steve Batchelor @CaptainBatch
@brianlamela Is Erik in from the start tomorrow?
AVB, you are getting on my fucking nerves (if true)
I woke up with a cold fear that Andre wants to counter the attacking instincts of Townsend with the negative useless instincts of Lennon and can't risk starting Lamela and Townsend together...
Aaaargh fuck it all!
Another wtf moment from the avb tactical game plan if trueLamela not starting according to his brother..
