Do I really have to post the league statistics in 2013 for Defoe, Lennon, Townsend, and Holtby again? If AVB starts them, then I will lose ALL confidence in him as a manager.

No you certainly don't. You're like a broken record going round and round on the subject lol

I would just love to see Townsend on the left , Lennon on the right either lamella or sag behind soldaldo may be Townsend wouldn't be so predictable and race down the left and cross instead of constantly cutting in

Dembele had a great game against them in our win at OT last season, and played well at home in the draw. Lennon played well both games and set up Dempsey for the equalizer at the Lane. Both players can perform in the big games if they're used in positions and roles that suit their strengths.

It seems bit like bingo. Play whoevers number comes up

Lloris
Walker. Kaboul. Chiriches Vertongen
Pauliniho. Sandro Capoue
Lamela Soldado Townsend

All the rest are the subs

Edit
I could see Capoue move to the central role and Dembele play on the left side of the mid three

I don't usually bother posting a line-up as there are already 300 iterations of the same thing, so I'll just say

  • Would be good to see Dembele on for either Sandro or Paulinho and asked to get forwards a little more, driving from MF forwards.
  • I like Siggy up there to add more passing. Soldado should start to keep the faith and give him confidence. We know he can do it, but he'll only do it if he's on the pitch.
  • Lamela or Townsend? I want Lamela to be our star man, the promise, the ££ we spent. But if Townsend gets down the flanks and crosses more, he's more likely to give Soldado some change to spend on the goal. Whoever's better in training and fitness I guess.
  • Holtby in the hole - he's looked really good there and needs more support esp while Eriksen's out.

How anyone can want Dawson in the team is beyond me. If Kaboul is injured play Capoue there or even Fryers at LB, anyone but the slow Dawson against RVP.

I would like to see, of what's available:

Walker Chiriches Vertonghen Fryers

Paulinho Capoue Dembele

Lamela Soldado Sigurdsson

I really fear we will see Defoe tomorrow, and Dawson and either a 4231 with Sandro and Paulinho, or god forbid a 442 with Lennon and Townsend. I pray I'm wrong.

Lloris
Walker Chiriches Kaboul Vertonghen
Sandro Dembele
Lamela Siggy Townsend
Soldado

If Lamela is to start playing well he has to play in his best poisition imo, even if that means moving Andros to the left, where I think he'll be more effective a a traditional LW anyway. Use his pace to get to the byline then whip in a cross.
Dembele, Sandro best mids in terms of form atm. Dembele made big difference vs City and Tromso, AVB needs to tell him to dribble and shoot more though, be more forwad thinking.

Seen little evidence thus far of soldado being a great striker, while I agree his supply has been poor he has to do more to create space for himself and make some sort of impact on the game.
When defoe plays no one mentions bad supply or service, its " defoe is shit"

For the Defoe part, even when he was getting service he was awful. Yes he scored a few goals, but he needed 30 attempts a goal (Yes, I know I am exaggerating).

When Soldado gets 5-10 very good chances a game regularly, then I will judge him.

You're right. But isn't past performance the greatest indicator of future success? I just feel when we're evaluating whether AVB is the right man for the job, his line-up choices have to be assessed critically when we play this poorly.

Let's hope he gets it right tomorrow.
