For the Defoe part, even when he was getting service he was awful. Yes he scored a few goals, but he needed 30 attempts a goal (Yes, I know I am exaggerating).

When Soldado gets 5-10 very good chances a game regularly, then I will judge him.

5-10 good chances a game for one player, Rooney and RVP don't get that at united why would Soldado get that at spurs?
Very harsh on defoe saying he has been awful

Soldado's link up play is infinitely better than Defoe's. Too often the ball is played up to Defoe and it ends up further away from him than it was originally played from.

I agree his link up play is better than defoes but I don't think its great. Soldado shows some nice flicks and touches but he is pushed of the ball to easy IMO.
I also think he could work harder off the ball making runs to create space and move defenders around

Thats because when Defoe plays and comes back to get the ball he usually loses it and his touches is worse than Soldados

Defoes passing accuracy is 85% and soldados71% and I realise defoe has generally played against weaker teams and stats don't tell the whole story. Soldado passing against a relegated Norway team was 56% BTW and had 0 shots on goal

I want to see the 4-3-3 we were all told was AVB's favoured formation, and for which it seemed we were buying these players... I was looking forward before the season to the theoretical first-choice MF 3 of Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele, but I guess AVB's preferences were mis-construed...anyhow, I would actually start Capoue ahead of either Paulinho or Dembele at the moment

Lloris
Walker-Vlad-Kaboul-Verts
Sandro-Paulinho-Capoue
Lamela-Lonely Bob-Siggy

I figure (well, not just me) that our problem is scoring goals, so in choices between players I picked the ones I thought more likely to actually score...hence Siggy who many like to slag off: he's the only MF on the team who gets the ball in the net with anything like regularity. Paulinho seems more a goal threat than Dembele (based on what they do outside of Spurs...). I thought we paid a ton of money for Lamela to play as a wing-forward in a 4-3-3
