Yea agreed. He showed potential and you could see his ball skills from the times he had it but he was poor like everyone else. If Lennon did what Lamela did in that game he would be getting a bollocking on here, because although Lamela looked silky on the ball he also lost it quite a few times as well.

I've thought that Townsend has earned his place over Lamela up to this point but now especially that we're lacking so much offensively I think it's time that we show trust in this player and give him some solid playing time, back him to perform and let him grow in confidence. He's not gonna get anywhere dipping in and out of tricky league and lower level cup games.

Yup, time to stick with him I feel too. Everyone needs to be in it to win it on Sunday. Pride alone needs to drive the players to be relentless in all area of their game on Sunday.

Lloris

Walker Chiriches Kaboul Vertonghen

Sandro

Lamela Dembele Sigurdsson Townsend

Soldado
Contemplated Lamela in the middle but think it might get a bit crowded. Plus I fancy him against Evra.

Dembele/Sigurdsson give a lot of creativity in the centre, Sigurdsson probably further up the pitch than Dembele going to a second striker role at times, but the key is to not restrict them. Let them go at United's defence.

This team needs consistency, and that's difficult when two players who should be starting (Rose & Eriksen) are out.
I like that line up. Not sure about Siggy, but in that formation could work.

I am in no way a fan of Egobayor, but I must confess, peeking around the corner of the sofa in fear of everytime Citeh attacked, to noticing some sort of understanding between him and Lamela.....like they passed they ball to each other. I'll bury my dislike if AVB can work on it.

AVB needs to decide his best team and stick with it so they get in the grove now, I still don't believe he knows what that is which is part of our problem.

I'm not sure i said he was awful at all, he played well during the brief spell we looked a little bit dangerous but he was equally at fault as everyone else on that pitch.
Sorry bud I was quoting hodsgod

---------------------- Lloris --------------------
Walker -- Dawson -- Vertonghen -- Naughton
Lennon ---- Sandro --- Dembele -- Townsend
------------- Lamela ---------------------------
------------------------ Soldado ---------------

during the game, the system changes to 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 easily.

er... you seem to have inadvertently typed naughton at left back.

Sorry for anyone naming Holtby in either their preferred or feared teams, but I'd be staggered if he played in any games of importance for some time. Everyone was bad Sunday but he hasn't done anything good since a decent cameo on his debut against Norwich, so it was the same as normal from him. Non-player like Sigurdsson, both need to be moved on.

This is fucking genius! All the time it was the creative passers in our side causing all of our problems, how did we not see it! About time we got some more hard working athletic 6fters in the starting X1 instead of the ten Barcelona wannabe show-ponies we've fielded every week

The Team I want him to play..whether he will play it or not is another question.

-----------Lloris------
Walker-Daws-Vlad-Vert
----------Sandro------
----Dembele--Holtby---
Lamela-----Ade-----Lennon

Dawson, hate him or not he has been pretty solid for us.
Assuming Rose is still out Vert goes LB.
Sandro can hold the play very well.
Dembele, Holtby - Holtby applies high pressure exactly what Man United don't like, I believe this will give him an advantage over Eriksen, Dembele can easily pass players and CM is where Man United are most weak
Lamela, Lennon - Both fast and versus an ageing Evra and Clumsy Smalling would probably be the best options.
Adebayor - A lot of goals United have conceded have been set pieces, Adebayor I feel is better in the air than our other choices

Like that a lot, but would swap chiri with verts. This LB business is not good for him and his mind will start to turn elsewhere if it continues too long.

Funny you should say that as i kept deleting and toying with Verts at CB, but in all honesty he needs to understand that his employers fucked up with a replacement, he is needed there temporarily and he is paid handsomely to do so.
I agree it is not great at the moment but i can't see what we get out of it by chucking someone else into LB.
Clusterfuck, and we should of known better.

Point me to one 'creative' pass Holtby has played in a league match. I can think of one decent pass against Cardiff which he couldn't really miss. Average player, his supporters blinded by his enthusiasm.

Holtby is class. He reads the game really well, works hard and plays no nonsense simple attacking balls through to the forwards. It's not his fault he plays in an anti-football team with a herd immunity to passing and movement.

We need Kaboul in central defence. Sandro and Dembele in central midfield and Soldado and Adebayor up front.

I'd go with

Lloris

Walker - Daws - Vlad - Verts

Lemala - Dembele - Sandro - Townsend

Ade - Soldado

Quite simply, 4-4-2

Or if you wanted to make it sounds more european.....

4-1-3-2

Like this

Lloris

Walker - Daws - Vlad - Verts

Sandro

Lemala - Dembele - Townsend

Ade - Soldado

I would love to see AVB just let it all hang out with something along the lines of

Hugo
Walker Kaboul Vlad Jan
Capoue Holtby
Townsend Lamela Chadli
Soldado
But I doubt he will.
