Plenty of confusion about Jenas here - he's suspended. As Modric looks likely to be out as well only alternative left really is Sandro/Palacios; which is probably why Sandro was given a run-out by Harry yesterday and Palacios given a rest.

I was initially pissed off at Harry for just throwing Sandro to to wolves in tough away games (hasnt he only started Bolton and Sunderland away in EPL) instead of putting him on for 20 minutes now and then and letting him start a game or two at home to get more used to the league, but reckon he was basically forced to give him game time now due to Modric...

I am not sure about Palacios and Sandro in midfield together. I fear we may just keep giving the ball back to them too much, so I will go Palacios and Pienaar.

Bearing in mind that we're playing an away game and can't afford to be as open as we were against Inter, I'd go with the following line up:

Gomes
Charlie, Gallas, Daws, BAE
Lennon, Modric, Palacios, Pienaar
VDV
Crouch

It pains me to leave Kranjcar out, who going forward is a far better player than Pienaar. However, the latter's tireless running and defensive discipline off the ball would tempt me to start with him. Perhaps Kranks can be brought off the bench late in the game to hold the ball up and kill time.

Crouch is injured and wont be available.

to me, we have to score at least 1 to give us room for a mistake in the second leg. lennon unfortunate to miss out and i'm worried about dawson being found out.

so excited about the game though. no nerves at all. role of underdog will suit us.

Think Sandro might be too inexperienced for this one.

VDV for Defoe if fit. Modric for Pienaar if fit. Bale for Kranjcar if fit. Hudd for Palacios if fit. King for Dawson if fit.

Really cannot see Piennar at CM, especially not for a game like this. This is Milan away. I think he was brought in to play RM/AM/LM, not at all the kind of CM/DM we'll need for Tuesday.

Bayern Munich are more likely to 'muller' us in fairness.

The Bale thing could be a mind game. If you give the impression that our perceived best player and Inter Milan destroyer is out and then announce him in the starting lineup against AC Milan then you may just ruffle a few feathers in the AC dressing room.

I can see a tactical surprise with:

........................ Gomes .....................

Corluka ..... Dawson .... Gallas .... Bale

Lennon .... Palacios .... Jenas ..... Kranjcar

...................... VDV ..........................

.................... Crouch .........................

If he is fit then you play an in-form Kranjcar and surprise them further by playing him at left-back. They would not have prepared for that eventuality and he will be running from deep so hard to pick-up without giving Niko space. Palacios plays as a virtual defender to cover Bale and Jenas plays conservatively. Corluka is naturally defensive so will be well balanced between defence and attack.

In the Champions League you need every inch you can get and surprising them with Bale and then again with where he is playing could prove effective.
