So.... Bale and Modric are likely to miss out. I think VDV will make it.

What team would you play?

Heres mine:

Gomes

Corluka .... Gallas .... Dawson .... Ekotto

Palacios ... Sandro

Lennon .. Van Der Vaart .. Kranjcar

Crouch

I expect to see Modric, who had returned to light work prior to todays game.

Harry will probably play Wilson over Sandro though, but today he was mercurial so I'd give him a go.

Modric will be fit I reckon, not like it was a proper injury. Give him a bit of calpol before the game for his tummy.

I dont think this is the team that 'Arry will choose, but its what I would pick. I think we will need to be secure defensively, and although they have got rid of a lot of their ageing players I still believe that if we have 'legs' in the team we can beat them.

Im assuming Bale is out, and I wouldnt risk Modric or VdV to start, so:

-------------Gomes------------
Corluka--Gallas--Dawson--Ekotto
----Sandro/Jenas---Wilson------
Pienaar------Lennon------Kranjcar
-------------Crouch------------

One up top is Crouch who does well in Europe and will provide an outball if we are under pressure, Pav is unlucky to miss out.

The midfield has lots of energy and offers protection defensively. Pienaar on the right again and Kranjcar on the left as its his best position. Lennon for me to start central behind Crouch is a gamble, hopefully though he can occupy and disrupt Pirlo or whoever their deep playmaker will be, and if he gets forward to support Crouch will scare the shit out of their centre backs. If its not working can always switch him with Pienaar.

Harsh as this is on Kranjcar I think Pienaar would be better for this game

id be surprised if luka played to be honest. yes its only his appendix but its still a surgical incision hes got on his stomach. A heavy tackle and that could easily open up. unfortunate but think its a bad time for injuries right now

Modric and Bale to go straight in if available of course, if not:

Gomes

Corluka .... Gallas .... Dawson .... Ekotto

Sandro ... Palacios

Lennon .. Van Der Vaart .. Kranjcar

Crouch

Cant believe we're missing four of our five best players (IMO Modric, Bale, King, VDV, Huddlestone in that order) playing Milan having the natural midfield replacement for the very best one suspended and we can still line up with top quality like this - what a squad!!!

Lennon right, Pienaar left, Kranky centre.
No Jenas, as he's suspended.

Otherwise my exact pick.

only his appendix? have you had your appendix out? I wasn't allowed to drive for a month after I had mine out.

I think its unlucky for Pav after his display today but Crouch and VDV must play if available.

If we can keep it tight and nick a draw, we will turn them over at whl!
