pack the middle, concede the wide, defend deep, counter with pace.

four things we should do, but won't.
Especially with no Giroud, we should be forcing them into crossing positions all day, and play Fazio.

Unfortunately for a plan like that to work you need discipline and application...

Naughton Fazio Vert Rose
-----Paulinho Chiriches---
Townsend Lamela Eriksen
-----------Soldado---------

Bentaleb just missed out to Paulinho. Whilst putting this team together it also dawned on me how fucking poor our squad is, not good enough frankly. A distinct lack of experienced creativity.
Paulinho and chiriches screening the back four ? Oh wow!

Yep, Stambouli obviously came into my thinking but throwing him into a NLD so soon is a bit risky. Regarding Vlad, he's better than Capoue in pretty much every aspect, and I believe DM will be his best position in this league. We have missed Bentaleb moving the ball quickly in recent games, but I just edged Pauilinho for added goal threat, which we lack, I'm still 50/50 in my mind over that choice though.....dont think its that shocking of a selection tbh, the current 2 are not exactly pulling up tree's (Capoue, Dembele).

Putting Stambouli in a NLD so soon is risky but playing an off form Chiriches out of position along side Paulinho, who is yet to show he can play in a CM 2 in this league isn't?

We need two players than can win the ball, close down and play the ball forward quickly and IMO Stambouli and Capoue are probably the best fit right now.

I'm waiting until after Forrest before thinking about the team for scum. If we even look the slightest bit like a proper team then I'd go for the same team for Saturday whoever the hell they are.

You act like Stambouli has never played a professional game against a top opponent. Plus, more than half the team is new within the last couple of years, so its not like we are overflowing with guys who are skilled and experienced in playing in a NLD. Chiriches, his replacement, also has never played in a NLD.

Lloris

Naughton - Fazio - Verts - Rose

Stambo - Capoue - Dembele

Lamela - Soldado - Chadli

Subs: Vorm, Dier, Chiriches, Bentaleb, Eriksen, Lennon, Ade

Control the middle!! In the big games we get dominated in the centre of the park which renders our front 4 useless. Force them to beat us down the wings

Yeah the way to defend against Arsenal is to congest that central space in front of our box.

If you had Capoue, Stambouli and Dembele in there....and use a pacey trio of Lamela, Chadli and Lennon to hit them on the counter with. Could even bring on Townsend late on to.

That could be a recipe for disaster....

Performing against Forest at home is a different ball game to what we will face at the scum, plus that team will have played twice in 3 days....Poch will hopefully have a better plan than that, though 1 0r 2 players could force themselves into side v the scum by their performance tonight, but to play the entire same 11 would be a huge mistake however they perform against forest.

I was talking with my son last night who suggested we play Lennon at centre forward. Seems crazy as he is small and doesnt score but i think it could be a masterstroke. Adebayor is so easy to play against and to have a chance we have to do something unpredictable.
Pack the midfield behind and support from Lamela and Ericsson.
So back give and something like
Capoue Stambouli
........Benteleb
Lamela Ericsson
......Lennon

Lennon certainly more likely to give Mertasacker a problem then any of our regular centre forwards.

Mate, did you WATCH us against WBA at home? You know WBA, the team managed by Everton's ex-YOUTH coach, who were in 19th place on 2 points! In my opinion, the leaders of the Championship (one bloody tough, battlefield of a league), would have a good go against PL teams in the relegation zone especially ones who look as bad as WBA have been. If we put on a good display against Forrest and win, then surely that's a better team, formation and tactics than last Sunday and they fully deserve the scum match. As for tiredness? Mate, these are Premier League footballers, they can handle playing these 2 matches, with 68 hours between them. (Now I realise they looked like a bunch of pub team footballers last sunday, but actually, we need to remember that they are actually Premier League footballers.)

Absolutely, just ranted this in many more words in the Poch as Manager thread.

Play on the counter. It is actually allowed. We don't have to have 97% possession in every game we play and push 349 yards up the pitch.

You're also right that we won't, and we'll probably get stuffed as a result.

So frustrating when it's so easy to see.

I thought you were joking! I even put in my diary - "Hoddle&Waddle made a very funny joke today"!

LOL, MURDERsacker would absolutely MERTER wee Lennon! I remember once, Defoe was a lone striker v scum and he was delt with quite comfortably by the big German, speed or not.

i didn't say we should play the side that lost to WBA, changes have to be made for the tough task away to the scum, but to just pick the same side that hopefully performs against Forest is naive. We were poor last week and heads will roll, i would be very worried if Poch didn't have a better tactical plan up his sleeve for the scum game then just whoever plays well against Forest wiil play on saturday...very worried.

We need to bully Arsenal. I'd put Soldao in 100%. Should we be in a position to win a pen or two, we need him on the field.
