What has GKN shown to suggest he would be an effective wing back? Literally all we know is he's fast.

Running fast isn't everthing, especially in a defensive position (however attacking ours are, their first remit is it stop goals against).

Does GKN have the positional awareness or discipline to play there? Has he ever played there before? This isn't football manager. It's the same when many suggested Son to play there. He's awful defensively!

Certainly not with Coleman and probably Mirallas to deal with.

Everton are going to be a massive challenge. Koeman has really got them firing and working for each other. Going to be a battle.

As I said and @thinktank intimated, why not give it a go? Neither you or I know whether or not it will work but he cannot be any worse than Davies in that position. I think that is one of Poch's weaknesses, despite the rhetoric, he is not a risk taker unlike other "big" Managers in the ELP.

It's Thinktank. He wanted Bentaleb to play left back.
Where he played a couple of times and actually was very good.

My pick as well. Like you I am not feeling Ali and I have been saying for the past few games that Rose has been out, to try GKN at wing back. I really think it work.
So, how is gkn at defending? Seeing as Coleman is one of the leagues best right backs? How many times has he played wing back in his life? Is it just because he's quick??

Davies does the job fine. Isolated 1 on 1 with the likes of Mane not many left backs in the world would look good. I don't get the hate for Davies as of late. He's all right, doesn't have the pace of Rose but does the simple things well. Gambling on GKN could be a disaster, Coleman, Barkley, Lukaku and co could have a field day. Don't see a reason to change it right now.

Coleman, T. Davies, Lookman et al. would have a field day with GKN as the left-wing back. I have little trust in our B. Davies, but GKN would be a recipe for disaster compared to the current set up without Rose. Playing Vertonghen there and using Wimmer in the back three would make more sense if any change was being considered.

Everton have played 4231/433 very effectively recently. Schneiderlin has added a lot, Lookman looks decent, and they've addressed the balance of attack and defence pretty well since January. This will be tough and Rose's absence could be key again.

Because "giving it a go" could be suicide in the PL.

Tried and tested. No questions asked.
