Davies will keep getting rinsed by Holgate.

I'd prefer we take the a slight risk with KWP and gain more counter threat, attacking penetration and speed in recovery - more dynamism.

Sick of seeing uber-careful keep ball. Want to see a bit more calculated risk in our game to extract the most out of our attacking potential.

Davies would be on the bench if it didn't work out.

Think we need to be more adventurous at times, this season.

By 'if it doesn't work out' I assume you mean 'we've gone behind'. Davies starts for me to provide a solid platform and our subs can be used to push us forward. No point bringing Davies on when we have Son, Winks, GKN etc to up the ante.

Not necessarily. Though KWP is comfortable on the left, things just might not be rolling for him for whatever reason.

Having Davies on doesn't guarantee we don't concede first, either.

GKN is injured.

You're always taking calculated risks when you start new players, not 'cause of their ability, but just because everything's new to them in a different league, the pace of the game and type of play, with new team mates.

It's a new system for them, and they have to develop an understanding with the team. I like the idea of Aurier and Sanchez being blooded early, but throwing in KWP at LWB at this stage makes no sense!

Go watch Holgate's pace playing WB for Everton.

I have. We could be playing City or 'Pool with even more attacking pace for our LWB to deal with, and I'd still choose Davies right now. Having Aurier and Sanchez in our line up means oppo teams will be pushed back because of their pace. Also means quicker recovery when we deal with a counter. Means Verts can also be more confident in providing cover for a lack of pace on the left side of defence.

Our team has plenty of in-game experience and familiarity with Davies in the LWB role. That's important. KWP will get his time, just not in our next game, especially as a LWB.

If KWP would be up against a more experienced WB I'd agree with you. But the fact Holgate is also a freshman, balances out the risk imo.

Watching Everton and looking at their probable starting 11, I think it's a risk worth taking.

No way poch is gonna do it, like I said; but I'd give it a spin.

I'm with you on the taking calculated risks front. We're blooding new players too though. Poch will have one eye on the game and the other on helping new, potential first-teamers to smoothly transition into the team going forward.

Think his last thought is giving KWP a LWB start. He may even have both Aurier and Sanchez on the bench, and start KWP on the right, just to fuck with our preferred line-ups!

Always a tough place to go but I dont think they're as strong a side as the one we faced last season?

This will be a tough one. They didn't play very well against the chavs so will wanna put things right. Also, Rooney has been getting some bad press lately and when that has happened in the past he normally plays well in the following game and he does have a habit of scoring against us. Don't see us winning this one.

The general school of thought is that Dier wants to play CM and that is one reason why we've bought Sanchez and Foyth.
Let me see if I have got this correct. By your logic we spent millions just to placate one player to play in a position where
he Is ranked 3rd or probably 4th best behind Wanyama, Dembele and probably Winks? Your argument would make sense if he was our best CM

Sanchez not yet starting purely so he can settle in, need for Aurier a little greater.

Davies is fine as a fill in starter with Rose still injured. He may be ill suited to play wingback and he may not ever be the reason we win a game. But he won't be the reason we lose one either. He's rock solid defensively and he comes in and does a job. Exactly what I want in a backup. Trippier on the other hand is a massive liability. He has absolutely no positive attribute other than his ability to occasionally put in a good cross. He can't go by people, he's useless getting foreword against better competition, he's a defensive turnstile who's constantly out of position. He's also almost 27 years old and with his athletic limitations I think he's probably maxed out his ability. He's never going to be any better than he is right now. I'd be in favor of dropping him entirely and giving his minutes to KWP even though I know that's never going to happen.

You'd really start two new players who've had no time to work with Poch or their new team mates and are away on international duty until Thursday, and don't know team tactics or shape? I'd be surprised if Poch is that much of a gambler.

EDIT - I would agree that would probably be our strongest line up given players time to settle and assuming form is good etc.
