He definitely looked well off the pace thats for sure. I cant see him starting any games for a while unfortunately. Hopefully he can do something off the bench for 10 minutes here and there though.

I think it’s a bit harsh to have an overall assessment on where he’s at based on the Watford match. He hung onto the ball too long a couple of times and was dispossessed in the process but he’s still the only player who will play that sharp forward pass that no one else will. Plus he certainly didn’t look off the pace against Leicester where he got an assist and looked the sharpest player for us on the pitch so the jury’s still out on his current level of play IMO.

I personally think for what he offers and for what our current setup doesn’t offer, a few mistakes is still well worth having him in the team whenever we think he can be. Only him and the Spurs staff know when he can be ready to play longer but for me, he should be playing for as long as we think he can and no less. Our team is desperately lacking spark and invention which he can provide.

Yeah I agree with you. I didn't see him against Leicester, just against Watford and he did look off the pace. I don't think it's a harsh thing to say and my post wasn't phrased as a criticism of him, it's just where he is fitness wise.

My post was aimed at those expecting him to start games, they are being pretty hopeful. Based on the Watford game he looked far away from being able to do that. Your second paragraph is where I think the state of play with him actually is too. It's going to be some minutes here and there until his confidence and match fitness is built up and only the coaching staff know that at this minute in time.

Yeah fair enough mate :) I just think the Watford game was kind of a gritty match after the sending off and we were actually struggling to keep hold of the ball and play the football we wanted to play so I think there were a few things going against him as in the current state of play of the match that he entered. But I don't mean to sound like Lamela can do no wrong or anything but that was kind of point in that I don't think we've seen him play enough football to know one way or another in respect of how he is ability and form wise right now.

To be honest if I'd only seen the Watford performance and not the Leicester one I'd most likely be leaning towards thinking he just needs to be eased in a bit more but in the little time he was on against Leicester he showed that he can provide what others in our team are badly struggling to at the moment. It would be a different story if we were playing well and whatever the situation he can't be rushed back but I think we need all the help we can get at the moment :D

There was also a time in the Leicester game where he was chasing the opposition down like a dog and I was thinking fucking hell I hadn't seen that from any other player all game. In fairness Alli did once early in the second half when I think he was a bit pissed off but the only other time I saw a play chase down the ball like that was with Lamela near the end.

Sounds like that report was jumping the gun and Wanyama is still quite far away:
#thfc Pochettino on Victor Wanyama: "I cannot say timings. He’s doing well, we need to assess him day by day, week by week. We’ll see in the next few weeks if he can rejoin the group.”

No we are crying out for Wanyama and Toby. Put them back in the team and we are an e timely different proposition.
Agree although let's suppose toby and victor return but we lose kane and son to injury. Where would that leave us? Injuries are part and parcel of the game so there no point in pondering over what could be.

I always get torn on this between who I want to play and who I think will play. Stoke are bad at defense but if we go in thinking we're going to get a romp we'll fall into the exact same trap of recent weeks.

Prediction:
Lloris
Trippier-Dier-Vertonghen-Davies
Winks-Dembele
Dele-Eriksen-Son
Kane

Hope:
Trippier-Dier-Vertonghen-Davies-Rose
Dele-Winks-Eriksen
Kane-Son

LLoris
Trippier Verts Dier Davies
Winks Ali
Son Kane Eriksen
Llorente

Use Llorente to take the central defenders and then he can link up with Kane and Son.

Both Llorente and Son have to play, and both Eriksen and Dele need to be rested, but I'm not sure if Lamela has the fitness required to start.

...............Lloris..............
...Dier.....Foyth......Jan...
Trippier.................Davis
.....Winks....Dembele....
...............Son.................
..........Kane....................
.....................Llorente....

Subs: Vorm, Rose, Aurier, N'koudou, Lamela, Eriksen, Dele
