They're a team built for counter-attacking football, and whilst Mel has been trying to change that he seems to be going back to it for the time being purely to get to the end of the season (they had barely any possession against Norwich). Their big weakness is down the defensive flanks, especially if Jones is out. With Lennon stretching and Eriksen drifting around that should be exploitable. They have a strong defensive-minded midfield in Mulumbu and Yacob (who is a doubt) but their only really creative central player is Gera who can't last the 90 really and is another doubt for the game. Amalfitano looks to be on a bit of a hot streak, I'd say he was their biggest threat so whomever is on the left will need to keep a close eye on him. Berahino and Thievy are both effective impact players but not really great from the start, expect they'll start with Anichebe up front.

edit: Oh, and Foster has developed this habit of rushing out when there's absolutely no need to, which has led to them conceding plenty of times his season.

So would you go with the same team as on Monday, or try something different?

Surely better not to play the man who gives away free kicks in dangerous areas constantly then?
It would probably be an idea to drop Rose as well then. I have lost count of the amount of times this season he has fouled a player who is running away from the goal.

In regard to their left side being their most dangerous outlet, I would hope we approach by strengthening our attacking intent down that flank, to keep them pushed back.

Then someone must keep an eye on our guy (rose) on the left... Vlad maybe?

I think we need to start two strikers. WBA are likely to field two big, strong CB's and they quite like their 1-1 draws. Thus, we need to score at least 2 to win, and the way to do that is to have both Ade & Kane to battle the CB's. If the two of them would take turn fighting to provide room for the other, I think we might be in luck.

Yeah, Amalfitano is going to have an easy ride less Rose stops feeling like a midfielder and starts feeling like a defender.

I would drop Rose and play three at the back and two up front. Rose is a waste of a shirt and it would free us to play 5 across the middle or even a diamond

I'm going all christmas tree retro for this one. Sherwood seems to favour the old Redknapp "run a raaaand and roam free" approach anyfuckinghoo, so you could call this a 433 of sorts. Imagine taking a compass, placing the spike on Eriksen and Chadli and drawing circles round each of them that also overlap down the centre of the pitch, overlap Adebayor and overlap the CM3 as well. That's their broad remit. Help the transition from midfield to forward, support Adebayor when attacking and support the midfield when defending. Go between the lines and between the columns as it were. Playing the CM3 will help protect the fb's who are also expected to provide the width. Sandro would be instructed not to charge around like a loony for the first 30 minutes and provide the protection for our very vulnerable defence and be the pivot for Paulinho and Bentaleb to spring forward and supplement the attack.

Lloris

Naughton Chiriches kaboul Rose

Paulinho Sandro Benteleb

Eriksen Chadli

Adebayor

One forward up top is for PUSSIES!!!

4-4-2 BABY!!!

Lloris

Naughton Kaboul Chiriches Fryers

Chadli Sandro Paulinho Eriksen

Adebayor

Kane

Walker, laid-back lazy boy Verts and Bobby would be in there if available.

Dembele also is good with Sandro but maybe Paulinho should have a run as needs to get his rhythm.

I actually miss Defoe a little as was quite good with Adebayor as a partnership - we kicked some shit with them two up top.

As I said, I'm bored with 4-2-3-1 now, play 4-4-2, who gives a fuck if it leaves us a bit open we'll just score more then them!!
