Assuming no-one who was injured for the Sunderland game is yet fit enough to start:

Lloris
Naughton Chiriches Kaboul Rose
Paulinho Sandro Chadli
Kane Eriksen
Ade

My team 3-4-3 with Naughton & Townsend as wing-backs. I am fed up with average play of Rose & Lennon. Naughton has made mistakes in past. But he looks far more comfortable at Right wing and IMO deserves a chance than ineffective Lennon. On other side, Rose got to my nerve with his bizarre passing & fouls;

Hopefully 3rd CB, covers mistakes to be committed by other 2 CBs.

Last chance for Paulinho. If he still looks average, time for Veljkovic or Bentaleb.

Lloris
Dawson, Kaboul, Chiriches
Naughton, Paulinho, Chadli,Townsend,
Kane,Ade,Eriksen

I'd keep things largely the same really. The back four seems to pick itself largely based on who is fit. I don't think Rose was as bad as some tried to make out last night, but if Fryers got a shot then it wouldn't be the end of the world.

In front of that I would keep things largely the same. Lets see if last night was a flash in the pan. Sandro needs to come in though to offer a bit more defensive nous in midfield. Apart from that, Chadli was an interesting selection in centre mid and quietly impressed me. As he is comfortable going left or right and can use both feet it opens up the whole field of play so much more, why not give him another go in there and see if he could be a viable option going on from here? People might not agree with him being stationed on the left, but Eriksen is doing well drifting off the line and finding pockets of space. For now, he can stay there. Kane now deserves a run till the end of the season to gain more confidence, get used to the PL and show what he can do at this level. No reason to split up the Kane/Ade partnership at this point.

The only inclusion is who you pick on the right, and its a coin toss between Lennon and Townsend based on who is available. Unless Tim has another youth teamer he wants to unleash on the first team stage...

Despite you saying you'd keep things largely the same I think your CM pairing fundamentally changes things.

First up though are you thinking flat or diamond 4?

If diamond then the difference is not as great, but still significant imo. Basically you've swapped out a deep lying playmaker for a DM destroyer, and your box-to-boxer for more of a number 10 type pivot player. The timings of the passes, the places the runs begin, the types of runs made, the spaces created etc would be different in your set up than in the one on Monday imo.

It's amazing to see what an afterthought Sandro has become on this message board. He was the first name on many people's team sheets in the past, but his injuries seem to have made him expendable. I'd still start him with Paulinho and Dembele, if fit.

Lloris
Naughton Kaboul Chiriches Rose

Sandro
Dembele Paulinho
Chadli Adebayor Eriksen
I guarantee we win if play that line-up. Lot of creativity up front with three fluid attacking players, and plenty of steel in the midfield to cut out counter-attacks and recycle the ball. No need for wasteful wingers like Townsend and Lennon the rest of the season. We know they don't provide goals or clear cut chances.

Yea I wondered about that! My ticket says 15.00 fwiw..

If be tempted to drop Kane for a midfielder which is harsh on the lad. But away from home 2 up might be a bit too open for my liking!

Hillsborough anniversary.
I guessed that was why...any idea why it's 7 minutes though? Has it always been the case on each anniversary?

regarding the game...I'd go with the Sunderland starting line. Chiriches won't make the same mistake again...it was early in his first game back...he'll be a lot sharper against west brom (hopefully).

I think the game was stopped after 7 minutes when they realised how bad the situation with the fans was.

Correct. This is from Telegraph:

A joint statement from the leagues and the FA said: “The match at which the disaster took place, the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on 15 April 1989, was ended six minutes after kick-off, at 3:06pm.

In the Premier League, Football League and Football Conference, matches due to kick-off at 3pm on Saturday 12 April will now kick off at 3:07pm, with the minute before kick-off (3:06pm to 3:07pm) seeing a period of silence observed at all grounds."

Have to say I like the sound of the 4-1-3-2 or 4-3-1-2 that has been suggested in here. With Sandro, Bentaleb or Dembele coming in for Lennon. Although a midfield diamond or even a 4-3-3 could work with that personnel.

We must be on for the most unique lineups and formations used in a season so why not keep it up. Its too late for us to benefit from consistency now.

Our wingers are not bringing much to the table right now so wouldn't be a bad shout. Shame walker isn't fit or else he would be ideal with a tighter midfield.

Kane and Ade starting seems to be a given based on the post match comments. Plus for me it's essential to give Vlad, Eriksen, Chadli and even Paulinho as much game time as possible until the end of the season.

Then all we'll need is someone to stumble across a fit Erik Lamela on their easter egg hunt and bring him back into the fold...
