Agreed, but in one way it gives Walker the opportunity to bomb up the wing knowing that either of Parker or Sandro will cover him. Thats the beauty of having both of them in there I think.

Fully fit Sandro would be almost nailed on. I still think he should start as we need to dominate them in midfield. Own the midfield, keep the ball coming back at them. It's very tough on Defoe who has been doing well but he'll have his part to play in the game too.

Exactly this..... Defoe offers nothing to the team in PL games apart from the odd goal. Play with the team that started against Wigan and I can only see one winner..... US!!!

Not from what I've seen so far this season. He struggled against Moses against Wigan.

I think it's strange that he so often let's players past him and then it looks like he's struggling to catch up even with his pace.

He's got a lot to learn defensively.

Thats hardly surprising! Its been well accounted that Moses has the power to divide any obstacles that he encounters with. :grin:

VDV and Modric are both equally comfortable in the midfield central role, behind the striker but Modric is less effective than VDV on the right side of midfield. If we are playing both, I'd rather Modric in the central role and VDV on the right.

I believe the 4-2-3-1 is an ideal formation at tricky away games with both Parker & Sandro as DMF.

But at home I believe we can be a bit more attacking and play both Defoe & VDV using a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield especially as Adebayor & Defoe seem to be forming a useful partnership. The hard choice is whether the DMF is Parker or Sandro – I suggest 1 starts and exhausts themselves for 60 minutes and is replaced with the other. The diamond would allow both fullbacks more space to utilise the flanks. Also depending on the status of the game GDS could replace either VDV or Modric, Rose for Bale.

This is the side I would start with, although I'd move Modric in the middle but even so, that should be a fairly fluid trio.

If we need to change things and go more direct then we can look to bring on Defoe but first and foremost, let's win the midfield battle, cut the supply to Van Persie and carve open an extremely lacklustre defence with our pace and movement.

I'd imagined a very fluid front 4 - just like it was during the first half against Wigan. Where they line-up for kick-offs is almost irrelevant with 4 such fantastic players.

that will be the starting XI but the 3 AM's will interchange constantly so its not an issue where exactly they start
