Paulinho and Vertonghen are top class players and need to go straight into the starting line-up. We have been fortunate to play some dire teams the last two weeks, but starting the same team as last week will see us get blown off the pitch.

I know most won't agree, but this is close to what we saw against Stoke in the first half, where we played really well:

Lloris
Walker Chiriches Vertonghen Rose

Dembele Paulinho
Lennon Eriksen Soldado

Adebayor

i don't remember soldado play left wing, no. why not just post what it really is - a lopsided 442.

Schmeichel

R.Carlos
Baresi
Maldini
Cafu

Ronaldo
Maradona
Zidane
Laudrup

Eusebio
Pelé

And we're playing FOUR-FOUR-FUCKING-TWO!

That lineup is a bit light on the right don't you think?

Time to attack City and set them on the back foot. Tim should put out an attacking team and take the game to them and have a real go. No point taking a back step at WHL. We aren't pussies.

I'd be tempted to play Vertonghen, and one of Sandro or Paulinho in place of Bentaleb. Not saying that Bentaleb hasn't done well, but this is the sort of game where a lack of experience could be heavily exploited.

If Soldado doesn't play, and with Lamela out (not that he'd start anyway), I'd go with:

Lloris
Walker__Dawson__Vertonghen__Rose
Dembele__Sandro
Lennon__Paulinho__Eriksen
Adebayor
Wouldn't be surprised to see the same side that beat Swansea though.

I am changing my line up to this now that some key players are back

Lloris
Walker, Chiriches, Vertonghen, Rose,
Paulinho, Bentaleb, Sandro,
Lennon, Adebayor, Eriksen

Dropping Dembele -probably controversial. But against City, I want a midfield who don't give the ball easily (Bentaleb). And we don't have the ball, have the players to get it back (Sandro,Paulinho).

And you think Dembele gives away the ball easily? Interesting.....

Agree that Dembele has improved in recent games.

But when opposition team game plan is to press high & hard, he always gives the ball away. Also his short passing game evaporates as well. All you need to do is look back at his play v Liverpool & Southampton away. Gave away numerous balls.

Sandro playing 15 minutes less than the others in the friendly and his injury record this season makes me guess he won't be ready to start this one. Hopefully I'm wrong but that is my feeling on it..

Agreed. In fact would be surprised if any of the 3 start (Sandro,Paulinho,Vertonghen)
