I don't think Poch trusts Winks to start ahead of Wanyama/Dier just yet but I do think that by the time we've played some cup games and he's made some sub appearances, Winks will be challenging for starts in the league.

We need someone in the middle who can move the ball quickly and positively and he looks like he can do a very good job of that.

Well he's gonna have to learn to trust him. We cant afford to start Dier and Wanyama together another few games until Dembele is back. We need to get the ball to our front 4. We need a CM to drive forward and link up with them. We dont need the redundancy of 2 similar DM's starting together.

Wing back idea looks good although Dier dropping to make a back 3 with the full backs pushing on is pretty much the formation we utilise with the ball at the moment.
I don't how we label the formations matters too much. The key is, as some of the other posters have stated, how do we link the midfield and attack to cut through the opposition more effectively. If we don't score on the counter, Walking pace with no Coutinho style number 10 to split a 9/10 man defence really isn't going to work for us.

If it's Bolasie and Townsend on the wings, then we need to have Rose and Walker hanging back more to contend with their speed. That's going to limit our attack, so I'd play with one DM. I'd honestly like to sit Alli, but I don't think we have the depth to do that right now with Son, Chadli, N'Jie, and Dembele all unavailable through either Transfer, Suspension or Olympics
