I just want a game next week, selfish me!

We'll get one regardless of the score from the first leg - even if it's 3-0 it'll be blood and thunder at BL, and it only takes one goal for them to believe the comebacks on... And we're the masters of succumbing to pressure of our own making.

And how many of those 'not in squad's were in the first half of 13/14, having spent almost the entirety of 12/13 playing like he didn't give a toss? Leaving Adebayor out after that season was FAR from mismanagement.

Under AVB, Ade only played 1 PL game (54 minutes) in 2013/14. That 54 minutes came as a first half sub when we were 3-0 down at Etihad - we lost the game eventually 6-0

Whatever stats you look at Adebayor always just looks like he's passing through. Compare how you view him with how you view Lloris, Eriksen, Kane, Mason, Bentaleb - players that just feel that they want to be there, playing for us.

Vorm - Plenty good enough and needs game time.
Chiriches - Decent at RB and Walker hasn't been great since coming back.
Dier - Decent in last game and quicker than Faz who could do with a rest.
Vertonghen - Need the experience at the back.
Davies - Needs to start a few. Rose further forward.
Stambouli - Improving all the time.
Dembele - Has the physicality. Would like Mason but this will be a tough one to come into after injury.
Townsend - Deserves a start after last outing.
Eriksen - Fit as a butchers dog. Try to get this one put to bed at home.
Rose - Suspect Chadli will miss out for personal reasons.
Kane - Sure he'll want to be in the mix and the pot needs to be kept bubbling.

WHEN ? When did he loud mouth "Spurs fans" ? When did he stir up trouble with "Spurs fans" ?

Only incident of any note was when he showed 5-0 or 5-2 or some kind of sign with BAE but that too was proved was done in a different context before the game.

Well, am still waiting for your response that he is not a goal threat. He has had one off season - where every striker of us were bad too.

With Soldado - he is a gentleman, I do not mind fans singing his name. I do support him every time he plays for us & really want him to do well. BUT, it is also fact that Adebayor has always had some bad treatment from "some" Spurs fans when fact is for us he has always been good & hasn't caused any problem, compared to his days in Arsenal & City

He may or may not have had few issues within playing squad - but if manager is happy to get him back & playing, then who are you to say that he can't play ?

Believe me, if Kane weren't scoring, even you would be praying for Adebayor to come back & hope he goes on a run like he did late last season.
Think they mean:

When they say he bad mouthed spurs fans

Yeah, he played him extensively in his first season as manager/Adebayor's first as a permanent signing, but he was crap for most of the season. His 'mismanagement' came the season after when Adebayor decided he should be manager as well.

As I've said before, if Pochettino plays a second team, I'll be infuriated. If we win well, which is something NO ONE at the club, including the management, players and fans, should expect, then we can make a few changes in the second leg.

This will be very difficult for us, and possibly just as frustrating as today, if not more.
We will win theres not a shadow of a doubt in my mind, i FULLY expect the win.

Injuries have put a bit of a spanner in the works.. We need to put out our strongest 11, but there's less options to debate over now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ade if it comes down to a choice between him, Soldado and Paulinho. With Eriksen and Townsend either side.

What's clear is that we need to go at them straight from the off, closing down like we have at our best, and forcing mistakes from more technically limited players. We're still a bit inconsistent in our workrate, and we'll need to match them on that from the off as the occasion is likely to be their advantage, nothing to lose.

Yup...surely we all remember Burnley?

To be fair, I recall he came back from international duty late, got injured and he was in the development squad to get match fitness rather than get thrown in the deep end with the main squad and risk injuries. He was back in first team training a week or so later.

Think a lot of what people take as verbatim was unfounded dot connecting by the media and the 'avb out' lot.

I'd like to see him play against Sheffield Utd, only because I think he'd intimidate them and has an element of aerial ability.

Burnley were a Championship club, who got promoted that year.

Completely different kind of gravy tbf.

You'd hope so.

But I think what Bobbins was saying is that whatever the result in the first leg, United will give it a real crack in the second leg, and even if we had a substantial lead, any goal they got would spur them on.

To be honest, over two legs, any team with aspirations of Champions League football should be looking to win comfortably against a League 1 side. It will be interesting to see how we get on.

Nah.

I think if it ends up at 4-0 say, Clough will change the team to focus on a promotion push, Spurs will play keep ball while United will already be beaten. The crowd will know the game is up and it'll fuck the atmosphere at BL.

Maybe so, but they've beaten West Ham and Southampton in their cup run so far, in addition to QPR in the FA Cup.

Not all fighting for CL, but all PL opposition

Thing is, even if it were to be as easy as you suspect - why rest players for this game?

It's a cup semi-final, and our only other game in the week in between is an FA Cup early-round game against Leicester - surely it makes more sense to rest players for that game, which is far less important?

There are no league games coming up so there's no reason not to play our absolute strongest 11, especially in the first leg at home.

Considering the away goals ruling comes in to play after ET in the second leg, I'm hoping United come to us looking for a goal or two. Could really open things up.
