“We are expecting [the paperwork] anytime soon, it could have even arrived today, but it hasn’t and he’s not going to be involved,” he said.

“I think for Bulgaria and Romania the process takes a bit longer. Sometimes it happens quicker.

“At the moment we are waiting for the post to arrive for the player to be registered. As awkward as it may look and sound, that is the reality. Obviously the player is frustrated with the situation but we can’t do anything about it.”
Сheers. Bloody red tape.

Hmm, if Vlad is out then at least one of Saturday's back four has to start alongside Kaboul, Naughton and presumably Fryers. I would personally be happy to see Fredericks or Stewart in the back four for this game, but it is not going to happen under AVB, and I think they might both be injured anyway.

Freidel, Naughton, Fryers, Kaboul, Dawson, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby, Townsend, Lamela and Defoe. That should do it nicely please :)

I hope JD starts.

If nothing else so we can do his chant just to piss off Badiel and Herbert some more. Besides, I think he'll score.

I think we definitely need Defoe to start and I'm confident he will start. Kane just played on Monday so while it would be nice to get him some match minutes on a bigger stage than the U21s, it's far more important to keep Defoe fresh.

Rose, Paulinho, Dembele and Vertonghen need to be rested in my mind. Rose due to being our only true LB. Paulinho because he needs a rest after two weeks of over 230 minutes between Brazil and our match against Norwich City. Dembele, as mentioned, due to his ongoing hip ailment and also because a fresh Dembele against Cardiff City is a huge bonus. And, Vertonghen needs to have the night off because he's just so valuable to our style of play that I'd hate to see him go down with injury as a result of a match against Tromso at home.

So, since I already made a lineup but it included Chiriches whom obviously won't be playing due to the work permit, I'll make a new lineup.

-------------------------------- Friedel --------------------------------
Naughton ------- Dawson ----------- Kaboul ------------- Fryers
---------------------- Sandro ---------- Holtby ----------------------
Lamela ---------------------- Eriksen ------------------- Townsend
----------------------------------- Defoe ------------------------------

I elected to play Holtby and Sandro in the midfield but I'd expect it to look much more like a 4-3-3 with Eriksen and Holtby in front of Sandro to function as our playmakers but with Holtby obviously taking up the more B2B role. I'd love to be able to rest Townsend, but I think he needs to experience the match playing on the left because once Lamela stakes his claim on the RW position, it may be his best shot to break into the squad. Unfortunately, with Defoe in there it defeats the purpose of having a left-footed player on the left as the main bonus would be crossing ability.

For me, the defense picks itself. Friedel needs to stay fresh as I fully expect him to start in the C.O.C. which is an important and tricky match. Dawson and Kaboul should make up for the youth of Fryers. Naughton should be fine at RB.

We have fantastic depth on the whole. Unfortunately, we do have 4 guys out this game either due to minor injuries or because of a work permit. We can still put an incredibly strong squad out there, but it will have to come at the cost of playing some important players.

I think we have to look players injury history when picking a team for this game, Cardiff & Villa, we know if Kaboul plays he won't start against Cardiff & with Dawson's injury history I wouldn't play him in 3 games in 8 day's which would happen if he plays against Tromso & Cardiff it's to big a risk especially with Vlad not having a work permit. So i'd go with Kaboul & Verts vs Tromso, Dawson & Verts vs Cardiff, Kaboul & Vlad( if permit comes through) or Fryers vs Villa.
I'd like to see young Mckevoy get a start in a fairly strong side.
I'd go with
Lloris
Naughton----------------------------------------- Kaboul------------------------------Verthongen-----------------------------------Fryers

-------------------------------------------------------Sandro-----------------------------Holtby----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Eriksen-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lamela-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mckevoy------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Defoe---------------------------------------------------------------------------Subs
Friedel, Dawson, Stewart, Paulinho, Townsend, Kane, Soldado

A lot of people mentioning rotation... my idea of rotation is all change for this game. the team from the weekend has an appointment in cardiff. Then the team from tonight takes on villa.

This early in the season it should be as many minutes as possible into as many players as possible.

I'd play Lamela in behind Defoe....Townsend right, Siggy left. Just don't want to risk Erisken, our most valuable player to the collective - I don't want some plumber hacking him down!!1

Lloris

Kaboul
Fryers
Rose

That way both CBs, Midfield two, Erisken and Soldado are fresh for Sunday - the spine of the side.
