Just glad we have another game before the break. Helps to put the madness of the last one in the distance a bit.

Assuming Madders is out (along with the other known absentees), I'd go for :

---------Vic---------
Pedro-Phiilips-Dier-Emerson
---Pap---Gio---Biss----
--Kulu--Son--Johnson

We need to keep the same structure and skill sets where we can, as Ange has said he will never change the style. Play players in the postions they have trained for and know (as much as possible)

The backup players are in the squad because they are the best option we have in that position, so we need to use them and have confidence in them. Ange has improved every player within the squad and I'm confident the 'back-ups' will also improve, given a run of games.

Assuming the worst case and Davies, Maddison and Richarlison are all out:

Vicario

Porro Dier Philips Emerson

Bissouma Sarr

Kuluveski Lo Celso Johnson

Son

Subs: Forster, Dorrington, Holjberg, Skipp, Bentacur, Donley, Bryan, Soonsup-Bell, Veliz.

A bit light on defenders, but I’m not aware that Ashcroft and Sayers have trained much with the first team, and Lyons-Foster (who is very good) isn’t even registered.

It will be interesting what team we put out tonight against Cambridge in the FA Trophy.

I'd be very surprised if he starts Philips. I would imagine it'll be Hojberg and Dier as CBs assuming Davies isn't fit. He will start Bentancur over Lo Celso every day of the week too. Can't trust Lo Celso to perform well.

I am a lifelong, natural pessimist and after last night I'm looking forward to seeing who in the squad will step up and redeem themselves or stake a claim, be it a squad player or a youngster respectively, in the next few games.

This is what Ange has done to me, and I can't thank him enough for it.

I'd be more confident with Bentancur instead of GLC

I reckon Maddison will be fine to start, so my team would be:

Vicario

Porro
Dier
Hojbjerg
Emerson

Bissouma
Sarr
Maddison

Johnson
Kulu
Sonny

Forster, Dorrington, Abbott, Phillips, Bentancur, Skipp, GLC, Veliz, Donley.

I like this more than I thought I would; I imagine this will be the team, but wouldn't be surprised to see PEH start at CB with Dier, or even Bentancur for 50/60 mins before Lo Celso comes on.

I for one am excited to see who comes in and how we perform.

We saw in pre-season when we had two different teams out, both would play great football but not necessarily the same style.

Also with regards to people fearing us playing a highline with a slower back 4, that's valid, but we will (hopefully for 90 minutes...) have 11 players on the pitch helping out with marking and blocking passing lanes, so not so easy to get through as last night.

Going by last night´s performance, our fastest and best centrl defender is Vicario. So think it has to be something like this:

Forster
Porro - Dier - Vicario - Royal
Sarr - Bissouma - Maddison (if injured: GLC/PEH)
Kulu - Son - Johnson

;)

Benta and Richy on after 60 mins

Going by the 2nd half vs Chelsea, I can see the team lining up in similar fashion.

Vicario
Porro - Dier - PEH - Royal
Bissouma
Sarr - Bentancur
Deki - Son - Johnson

Subs: Forster, Phillips, Davies?, GLC, Gil, Skipp, Richarlison, Veliz, Dorrington

I think Phillips instead of PEH

Sounds like Davies will be fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see him at CB or he could go LB.
