I think it's about having options off the bench if anything, to compete we surely need better than Nkoudou and Sissoko.

Sure but like I said we often have Son as the option off the bench. Unless Poch is going to start playing Son or Zaha almost every game then we'll have two similar options from the bench.

Zaha would be a very expensive signing so if we buy him it needs to be with the full intention of playing him regularly.

I believe Sonny was being rested for Champs League early on - he's now starting prem games because that's no longer a priority.

Davies and Tripps / Rose and Aurier are playing regularly. We need rotation and tactical options

When it comes to Zaha I have been really impressed by him this season. I disagree with BC's view that he cannot help to unlock deep lying defences.

But I also think BC is right that we have a better option in Son who is struggling to get games.

So do we really need two when we rarey play one? It's a genuine concern regarding the signing.

You could look at how City set-up with two extreme pacy attackers and say there is an argument for dropping Eriksen, or pushing him into Dele's role, just a little more creative. Eriksen can be bullied out of a game and doesn't offer enough protection for me in a 4231 when he plays right.

I am not saying Zaha is the answer, just that I can see instances when playing two out and out pace merchants can work. Horses for courses!

Probably the wrong thread to start this but if we were to finish 7th and kind of just trudge along for the remainder of the season. Do ppl think the bigger teams will still try poach our players? Or will they move on to the latest trends like Zaha and Salah? Perhaps I'm being naive but Alli isn't looking like a top prospect at the moment and I doubt other clubs are willing to even entertain the sums we'd ask for. Kane and Alderweireld are the worries but Kane is unlikely to go now and Toby may be told he ain't leaving.

We really need to make a statement to the likes of Toby And Alli this summer. One so that we show our ambitions and two, to put a fire up some of their arses.

You might want to read my post again.

We play two full backs every game so 2 quality options to rotate makes sense.

At the moment we have 2 quick winger types and neither play regularly so buying a 3rd might not be the best option.

If Poch is going to start playing Son regularly then Zaha makes sense. If he is going to persevere with Alii, Eriksen and Kane as the front three then Zaha makes little sense.

I agree. But if Poch is not going to play that way then Zaha makes little sense.

Cause and effect. If given a player like Zaha, I have no doubt Poch would start tweaking the setup to make use of his capabilities - just as our current playing style may well be influenced by the lack of a Zaha-type player in the squad.

That is the hope.

As I have already said I have been impressed by Zaha this season and last. No way to be sure of how he would step up to a better team.

If he performs as well as I suspect he might then great. If not then we have an expensive bench option.

So I guess my view boils down to we shouldn't be buying him because he is a quick, winger type but because he is of the quality required,

More along the lines of who Spurs are thinking about signing...Chris Powell was on Totally Football Show podcast saying he was at Chelsea v Southampton "for work". As we don't deal with Chelsea, assume he was scouting a Southampton player, all been underwhelming this season though haven't they?

Has there been any ITK on the prospects of anything actually happening. Will be interesting if Levy gambles to try and assure CL for stadium.Ideally its a CM and AM. For decent quality £80m sell Janssen and Nkoudou £30m. So £50m spend I think we can afford that with CL and extra gate money this season.

If the manager wants him then you can be sure that he has an idea of how to use him whether it be from the bench or the starting lineup, it's not as simple as leaving him on the bench and sticking to a rigid formula and formation which is why I think that he would play more than enough matches and do well at Spurs.

Ward-Prowse has potential and has an outstanding delivery. Not sure he fits our mo though.

He has had potential since Poch was there. Not much growth though. Bertrand I can kind of see since he is English and would keep our homegrown count up. Not the talent I would like, but he is pacier than Davies.

Edit: I could see it being Oriol Romeu. He was their POY last year for me and would be a decent backup to Victor. Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

I’d laugh, well despair really, if it was redmond as he went for about £12m last summer when we signed gkn and sissoko

Lemina looks decent but they only signed him at the end of August
