Attitude, desire and giving off impression that they gave a shit was there. In terms of our actual football and technical performance... Still a lot of work to do.

This needs to be the bare minimum every week now though, as I just said in the match thread if they fight for the cause and the fans can see this they will get behind them and reward them with a smidgen more patience.
There's work to do technically for sure but I actually believed we would score today and that's more of what we need in attack. They didn't put 10 behind the ball but the improvement was there.

Let's face it - there was a chronic inability to unlock defences no matter WHO the opposition was. To do this on several occasions to the champions who are stubbornly resolute in that area, was quite an achievement!

Champions or not, they are 8th on the table and only 7 teams have conceded more than them this season. It was our home game and we should've won against such oppo, however I'm satisfied enough that we even looked like footballing side.

It doesn't matter, it's all about familiarity and relationships. We are absolutely desperate to build some understanding and we simply cannot do that by making big changes every game.

Set the same team out against fulham and I bet they start in the same was they did today. All psychological.
I don't disagree with you on the familiarity and buidling relations aspect at all. And if he was to start the same team i wouldn't be too disappointed.
However, i still think these 3 lack the creativity to break down teams who sit back with 10 behind the ball.
Was really pleased that AVB started lennon today, and hopefully he'll start/bring on andros on the left v Fulham.

I'd go further to say that with this performance, we would've taken out the trash that somehow got the better of us this season. To prove my point, I'm confident that the West Ham game in the Cup will convince you to your satisfaction.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Who's to know. Hopefully they're playing for both the coach and the fans.

Just back from the game and was very pleased with the performance put in. Seemed like we played more forward passes today than we have all season and actually looked like scoring when we attacked.

Overall a much more positive performance from the lads, with hardly any of that backwards and sideways negative shit we've had to put up with for most of the season.

At last, signs of green shoots. Paulinho playing further up the pitch, just off the shoulder of Soldado (ahem, on the shoulder of the Soldier) needs looking at again.

Erikson playing behind could be quite mouth-watering.

Agreed about Paulinho.

He didn't play brilliantly today. His touch let him down too often.

But he looks so much better and so much more comfortable in that more advanced role than he has done in a deeper midfield role.

He still tired in the last 20, though. Definitely needs a rest at some point.

A lot better. Sandro dembele and Paulinho excellent in the 3. Better movement.

Give Defoe a start vs fulham please/

The only that today proved to me is that AVB hasn't lost the dressing room, right from the whistle the effort was fantastic. However.....the lack of quality was still quite clear to see. Aside from that nice link up between Paulinho and Soldado I struggle to think of another occasion where we really opened them up.

Also, I'd question just how pleased we should be with drawing at home to what is clearly a pretty ordinary Utd side who are struggling to find their rhythm.

One more thing, AVB's subs are almost as pointless as they are predictable, sort it aaat.

Lennon through one on one?
Walker cross just eluding Townsend?

I enjoyed watching the games today, a big relief that we played with so much purpose. Look better with Paulinho playing closer to Soldado. Shame we couldn't find the winner and hope the Jol sacking doesn't turn Fulham into a team of fighters

Could have done with a better ref
Sadly, English Referees are amoungst the worswt in Europe....and there is no argument...(outside The EPL). Today was another farce...but....you pay your money....you take your chances...( Manure can still 'help' a Ref....to 'decide'....and, My God he did make a terrible decision (In English Soccer...Kicking a GK is a penalty....IF you wear Blue (All shades) /Red....Loris made no connection, really, but he was in no way guilty of fouling the United player....Am I dreaming? COYS!
