PP are raising awareness themselves for Greenpeace, which is more than those huffy link clickers who are outraged are doing.

Raising awareness for deforestation by pretending to do it themselves in a self-promoting stunt? Yeah nice one Paddy Power.

Next they'll be trying to raise awareness of murdered children in Brazil by writing "Come on England - PP!" out of their bodies.

This is a pretty common style of protest though, for example when people protest against fur they often have a pretend dead animal style fur draped around their neck.

The idea is that people generically are apathetic about what they can't see so confronting them with the issue shocks them into action.

Not claiming that PP have any interests other than their own at heart however.

But it's worked though hasn't it?

The fact that Greenpeace has had more interest for their campaign since the publicity stunt paid testament to that

I just thought the original tweet had no mention of either deforestation or greenpeace? And was a totally different tone than what you mention here.

Anyway I don't buy it but if it worked then fair enough..

Yeah I think it's safe to say that PP had bugger all interest in deforestation when they designed the campaign, but having been backed into a corner at least some good has come of it.

Badelj receives last-minute Croatia call-up

Praia do Forte, Brazil - With less than 48 hours to go until the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil on 12 June, Croatia head coach Niko Kovac has been forced to make a last-minute alteration to his 23-man squad, handing Hamburger SV midfielder Milan Badelj a late call-up for the summer spectacle.

The 25-year-old was initially not selected due to lingering concerns regarding his fitness following a groin injury which had limited his appearances towards the end of a difficult campaign with the Red Shorts. However, in light of an injury to Ivan Mocinic, Badelj could be set to feature for Kovac in Brazil after all.

Former FC Bayern München stalwart Kovac, whose side take on host-nation Brazil in the World Cup opener on Thursday, now has four Bundesliga representatives at his disposal this summer with Ivan Perisic, Ivica Olic and Mario Mandzukic, set to miss out due to suspension on Thursday, already on board. Subject to FIFA approval, Badelj will travel to meet up with his compatriots on Friday, which would see him miss the clash with the Selecao.

I suspect that means Milner will be punted into the team.

We can't have an England team without a 'workhorse'.

For some reason.
Let's face it, Woy is gonna cock this all up because he's too cautious. Nothing we can do about it.

We should be going at Italy an scaring the shit out of them with whatever pace - and other weapons - we have. If we try and 'contain them' and hit them on the break etc. it's going to be ugly.

We have to go for it in that game.

I agree, but in any case I don't see how having a 'containing' player in a front 3 or in the three behind the striker works anyway.

Welbeck's injury is exactly what England needed really as it allows Hodgson to pick Sterling, Rooney and Lallana behind Sturridge, but I really wouldn't be surprised to see Milner instead of Sterling.
