Threw in some of our u18s in what seems essentially like an u21 fixture so was a good experience for them. Nice result. I wonder if Akindayini scoring means he'll go back to striker for u21s, though Miller also scoring might upset that for him

Don't think Akindayini's scoring rate has ever been an issue - its his hold up play, bringing others into the game etc which have not been that good in the past. Hopefully the coaches have been working with him recently to help him develop those skills

Just seen the highlights of the FA Youth cup game. Azzaoui and Georgiou have the skillsets that would make a huge difference to the fist team, it's a shame they aren't a bit further on in their development. It will be good to see how they do in the U21s now that Oduwa, McEvoy and Sonupe are out on loan. Love Azzaoui's flair, vision, composure and technique (that chip to Maghoma at the start of the game) and Georgiou's pace and running in behind the defence as well as his ability to cut inside or go on the outside.

Also, that run by Onomah for Azzaoui's goal.

Any chance at all of this being streamed by someone?

All I've found so far is "ITV4 broadcast 6 live games a season from the FA Youth Cup, including live coverage of the semi finals and the FA Youth Cup final on TV."

Yeah I figured someone might pick up from the semis, but doubted the quarters. I guess I was mostly probing to see if Forest streamed the occasional youth game what with their pride in their academy n what not.

Hope the lads will take care of business at Forest so we can get another chance to enjoy watching them play again.

Well if ITV 4 have not broadcast any FAYC matches so far this season, then with one final and 2 semi finals the logic is that 3 of the 4 quarter finals will be broadcast live, and these are the Q/F's :

Newcastle v Chelsea
Leicester v Birmingham
Notts Forest v Spurs
Man City v Arsenal or Crewe

Doubt if its that simple though !

I was at the Lane last night, freezing my bits off.... So, some of my observations after my 1st youth team game... I'll watch the game tomorrow.... thanks to whoever posted the link!!

I was impressed with the second half: first half we seemed in too much of a hurry, getting possession back quickly but then hospital passes or poor passes to give it back to MU: I made Azza most guilty in the first half, nothing seemed to come off for him. Their lads were BIG - to me they all looked CB size all over the pitch, but with some skill some of them

I was dead in line with their player correctly flagged offside for the disallowed goal. 2nd half, esp after our goal #2 we seemed in control of the game: MU lads seemed to be playing with nothing else to give whereas we seemed to be within ourselves.

From where I was KWP was 300% a penalty when he got booked for diving: and was lucky I thought that the ref was lenient in not giving him a 2nd yellow for a poor throw back of the ball late on. He had an outstanding game and got better the longer it went on.

My MOM though was our # 4 which I gather was Luke Amos: won everything it seemed and was everywhere in the 2nd half. Brilliant stuff and my pal with me late on then started to comment on the # 4 winning everything. Great performance I thought.

I really am still buzzing: thoroughly enjoyed it, apart from having frozen feet. :coldfeet::coldfeet:

I thought Sterling was more impressive in his cameo than Edwards, imho.

Concerns:

Marcus is very slight and just hope he is a late developer. Also, from what I saw last night I'm not sure he will have what Poch wants from his players. I sincerely hope he can grow and that concern isn't tested...

Also, and I don't know him and it was my first time of seeing him play, but to me Marcus seemed not quite 'connected' to the other lads, he seemed a little distant. for example, when the rest of the team were down at the touchline after the game, getting generous and deserved applause from us down near where those 1882 noise machines were (y) , we was ready to head down the tunnel until the coach showed him where he should be! I accept he may be shy and he is most certainly young, I just hope I'm not reading too much in to what I saw...

And thanks also to everyone who has posted comments in here following the game: this really is my 'must read' thread I always go to here at SC. Kudos to all!

Tony

EDIT: I typed this up last night (Tues) and thought it got deleted: posting now (obviously) but too tired to amend around the 'delay'. Am still buzzing though !!!

Thanks for that.

They'll most likely do Newcastle v Chelsea and Man City v Arsenal which is probably fair. Annoying thing though is I'm sure their own stations will televise the match anyway

Ye that's why I wanted to watch. I was being a little optimistic. England are facing some good teams over the next few days. Would have been good to see how they got on against them, especially being a year younger.
