Has anyone ever made the point about where TalkSPORT Drive get their Spurs fans from by the way? I hear one or two a month that actually what I see on here (and maybe elsewhere too) and by talking to my predominantly Spurs following friends, family and frenemies.

I am sorry the English Premier League is suffering from a lack of true star players at the moment it is the weakest it has been for 15 years and instead of wanting the brand which they do their punditry or reporting on to be stronger they try to weaken it. I do not understand their insistence that they want all the top players at two or three clubs in the world and the main two are not even in our league. My personal belief is they should be arguing reasons for Spurs and Everton's top players to stay nit link them away and report or comment how if the player wants to progress with their career they need to play for Man Utd, Real Madrid or Barcelona.

My thoughts exactly, well not quite exactly. It's the fans of other clubs who smugly state that 'if Bale has any ambition he'll leave Spurs this summer', or 'one things for sure, Bale won't be at Spurs next year', that really piss me off.

I can't stand this elitist attitude, propagated by glory hunting dick-mouths, who want any player who shows signs of excellence to be snapped up by Madrid, Barca, Utd or one of the sugar daddy clubs.

Sick of it.

thus everyone seems less of a star since there's no 'aura' to any player anymore, except ronaldo/messi. or maybe the quality of play has risen to a level where everyone has the same attributes and no one stands out that much anymore.
This is a good point.

I remember when watching us play in the Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup in the '80s remarking that our best players (Hoddle, Ardiles etc) were as good as (and usually better than) anybody's, yet we had fewer 'footballers' in the team than the continental teams - even the lesser ones. It was apparent that all of the opposition players were invariably comfortable on the ball; moreso than ours.

This is no longer true. Agreed, there are far more foreign players in England now, but the general standard of play has risen almost beyond recognition. Look how we, and other teams, retain the ball now, and are comfortable playing it around the back four. No english teams did it back then, and we were one of the few that actually made a point of involving our midfield in the play rather than have the 'keeper simply hoofing it long and fighting for the second ball.

It's a different game now, and I believe that - from a technical standpoint - it's a far better one.

I was sat in the car ealier listening to TALK-repititive-guff-most-of-time-about-totally-meaningless-stuff-SPORT, and they were talking about Bale that it's not so much a certainty (this was Adrian "trollolol" Duhram's spot btw) that he's leaving, more that he has already left spurs and is available for free transfer for whichever "big club" fancies him.

I have no illusions that he won't leave us, but the way they were talking about him as though he was a united player was just sickening with not a word, nor mention that he might be happy where he is or how he should stay there.

Ronnie Irani thinks Man Utd have already signed Gareth Bale and that he is only on loan with us until they need him

Talk Sport is OK as long as 'you' don't believe the very obvious trolling.
"Adrian "trollolol" Duhram's" (like) Is just the main comic spot on TS.

Patrick barclay just on talksport reckons he can't see why Spurs need to sell Bale reckons we can keep him. Quoted Martin Samuel saying with fair play spurs are doomed but said that's wrong Spurs are perfectly placed with a good squad and new stadium coming on stream in a couple of years we don't need to buy loads just a top top player and a good youngster every season to keep the squad at the top and we are financially able to do that. Wow!
Also said everybody at Saints knew Bale was the best player and thought it was unfair on Walcott to compare him to Bale as Bale is just far far better.
Never heard anybody talk about us like that before.

Yes. I like PB in general. Not just constantly going with the flow. He has one or two dropped bollocks every yr but much better than the average. You could see his facial expressions of disgust and/or pity sometimes when he used to be on that wanky breakfast journo thing on Sky Sports and the other halfwits were grunting out some rubbish.

The standard of the premier league will continue to dip as long as it's dominated by UTD and whoever spends the most that year.

Spurs would never sell Bale to a rival and if they did it would be for a price that none bar City and Chelsea could afford and it's clear since Modric that we'll never deal with chelsea again. If he goes, only Real and PSG could afford him a[art from teh Russian clubs and he blatantly wouldn't go PSG or Russia. Only possible destination is Real and they will only do it if Ronaldo goes. Who in the world can afford Ronaldo and stay safe with FFP?
