There really is no predicting how well a manager will do at a football club, unless his name is Jose Mourinho.

Every manager has a different style and philosophy. Brendan Rodgers is now doing a fantastic job at Liverpool. The players and fans are completely on board with everything he wants to do with the club.

But it hasn't always been rosy for him. He was on the brink of relegating Reading from the championship 5 years ago, and that wasn't because he's a bad manager, its because he wasn't the right manager for Reading.

Theres a very, very fine line between appointing a manager based on his past glory (i.e. Benitez) and appointing somebody who is the right fit for the club(i.e. De Boer/Tuchel), whatever they may have won in the past will have absolutely no bearing on if they'll be a success at a club that doesnt match their own philosophies.

In my opinion, Frank De Boer is the perfect match for us. He is similar to Rodgers in the fact that he likes to keep the ball on the floor, and build from the back.

At Spurs we have fantastic defenders (not on this season's form) who are very capable with the ball at their feet. We have intelligent midfielders, and strong midfielders who can win and retain possession, believe it or not, but we have wingers who are capable of taking on fullbacks, and strikers who know how to score.

We have all the makings of a traditional dutch side, and if Levy backs a manager like De Boer, and signs HIS players, i think we'll come back very, very strong next season.

My opinion, of course! COYS

Great post mate, sums up my feelings as well.

That will not stop his name being linked with several jobs, notably at his former club Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.

His colleague and former team mate Marc Overmars told Dutch television on Sunday that he was unsure of de Boer's intentions after he passed the legendary Rinus Michels and Louis van Gaal as the coach who had led Ajax to the most league titles.

"He could go, he could stay," Ajax technical director Overmars said.

Barça are likely to go with Luis Enrique, tried to get him when Tito had to retire but he had already signed for Celta Vigo

I thought there was also some reservations from the players as to whether or not he would be up to the task. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they went for FDB.

I wouldn't be surprised either but Luis is highly thought of by those who really matter, took Barcelona B to third in the Segunda and it's likely that they'd have won promotion if they were allowed to compete in the playoffs

De Boer's success is flattered by the fact he is manager in such a piss poor league where there is only one truly good team

He would be the biggest gamble of the lot

FOX Sports say Spurs have approached Ajax about Frank De Boer. De Boer's answer to @simonzwartkruis: "Spurs? I know nothing about it."(VI)

According to Kristof Terreur. Hopefully, that's him just being professional and not ruining Ajax's buzz atm after winning the title.

Can't shake the feeling that de Boer or Pochettino wouldn't be here in 18 months.

It's called the Perpetual Disappointment Gene (PDG). If you could screen it out pre-birth, there would be nobody to support Spurs.

They will if the fans get behind them hopefully and the board react to that.

I don't want pochettino but I'll get behind him. I like the sound of de boer though.
