Actually pretty gutted about Broad retiring, as understandable as it is.

Although one thing is for sure, the atmosphere today is going to be booming.
Anderson and Broad coming out to swing at a few to start things off, then both bowling their final Ashes innings together.

I can see Broady being totally on one!

It's been a privilege to witness the careers of two of the greatest swing bowlers ever.

I'm guessing of course and probably well wide of the mark, but there's a chance that if Oh Jimmy Jimmy (who's 41 today, HB2U) had reached 700 wickets this series, which he'd have expected to, he might have gone too. 700 is a fucking huge carrot and I don't blame him if that is the case.
Really hope he’s making the right decision

Can’t help but think he should announce his retirement as well this morning

Would be a fitting send off for both of them at a packed Oval as we win the 5th Test of an Ashes series

Don’t know what ticket sales are like for day 5 but would be amazing to pack the place out and celebrate the careers of these two greats

Hopefully we wrap this up today and don't let the (potential) bad weather on Monday become a factor...

I sort of got the feeling Broad delayed his announcement to the very last minute in case Jimmy was having the same idea. Neither would want to steal each other’s moment, I think. He’ll also be desperate to get to 700 wickets.

So .. 384. Bat for a day and a half probably to get them. My heart says that Warner gets a few, Lab gets a few, Smith gets a few and we do it. My head, however, thinks that there will be a collapse somewhere like smith, Marsh, Carey and we will end up about 300 late today

deck is very flat, still takes a lot of getting obviously, but it's not like it's 450+.

couple of quick wickets changes things, but with Smith and Loosechange to bat very do-able.

It’s definitely a score that Australia can chase down. I keep seeing people talking about the record run chase at the oval being 260ish but that is lacking in context. Australia have some of the best bats in the world, two days to chase it on a very, very flat wicket. IIRC, India scored 350ish in a losing effort a few years ago in much worse circumstances.
