jenas and keane swap for zamora? get rid of the chaff!

We really shouldn't be resigning Zamora.

As for Crouchie, he has the best understanding with Rafa of any of our strikers and for all his limitations he is our only striker who can win a header and his hold up play is better than the others (not that that's saying alot).

I'm not convinced he has any real understanding with VDV, Crouch's game is all about knocking the ball down from the air into the box somewhere. VDV tends to arrive late into the box and managed a few goals from these knock downs last season. There was nothing much in it for me and certainly no special understanding.

Crouch used to offer something different up front, he used to be a hard player to defend against and a tricky player that drew in defenders a bit. Now it seems everyone has realised that you just let him jump above you whilst at the same time getting underneath his arms and you get a foul given against him, i honestly think i could do a job marking Crouch these days.

Not sure he is the player we need. If we're looking at strikers with good goal returns in Eredivise then we should seriously consider Huntelaar before Ruiz.

wouldnt it be awesome if we signed ruiz and hulk, that would be a nice surprise

Two second rate (admittedly our current lot are 3rd rate) players who play in the same position (wide right forward/right wing)?

Because POTL is the account used by the THFC marketing department and they needed something to calm the anger of the fans the night before the Bilbao game

"I gave an update only this morning to my fans assuring them that there would be incomings at this club and there certainly would be a deal for Diarra, so..."

"Well, why on Earth would you do that?"

"Why? Oh, don't know. A little word I think's important in ITK called morale."

"Well, surely it's going to be worse for morale in the long run when there ISN'T a deal for Diarra and you've told people that there will be."

[pause] "They won't remember."

Hulk ain't coming here. And if by some miracle we did, we'd have spent the cash on the wrong player.

Falcao's the one we should have signed.

I'm starting to think that the population on here has been fleshed out with Lemmings! :bang:

May explain the amazing propensity of SCers to list their favourite outdoor pursuit as hill-walking:eek:mg:

Or they just keep feeding us similar false hope, with fingers crossed that Laurel and Hardy won't embarass themselves too much in the time before the window closes and we're stuck with our lot till Jan.

I'm not sure Levy will like that if true. Doesn't he like everything to be kept as quiet as possible?

Which is, really, the whole point - if levy likes to keep things quiet, how can anyone extrapolate anything (good/bad) from the silence. History has shown...good/bad.

I find this argument odd as surely if we're looking at history, Levy has been in charge in the period where we've moved from mid-table obscurity to top four challengers.

I know what you mean as our transfer activity does appear to happen frustratingly late at times (or not at all at others) but as you said, let's wait until the end of the window.

If we haven't strengthened by then I'll be with you in ranting.

Utter crap. IF we lose to Utd, City and Everton it will be because our whole team isn't good enough not just because JJ is playing.

Exactly...anyone who is 100% convinced that we will lose our first 3 games if we don't sign anyone else, this window (not that I either want that to happen, or believe it will), is, quite frankly, either gifted with divine powers, or a complete and utter plank - I kinda believe it is more likely to be the latter:roll:

If it hasn't dawned on anyone we are trying to build/fund a new stadium. We can't excactly splash the cash on players when the Stadium is more important!!

Would love to know what this final offer amounts to from Stoke for Palacios and Crouch...

Spurs have hit the glass ceiling.

We've reached a point of saturation where we cannot rake in anymore revenue in terms of marketing, sponsorship, gate receipts, tv money etc.

We could raise our wage to turnover ratio, but that could be risky.

We even don't have the lure of CL to offer. And even if we did, the players we would need to compete in that competition would demand the sort of wages we are unable to pay.

We'll just have to accept that we'll just have to tread water for the foreseeable future until we get a 60k seater stadium.
Only then will we be able to compete in the TW for the sort of players that we all crave.

IMO.

I don't mean to go and just spend silly money, but this attitude will only result in Europa League again next year with Bale/Modric/VDV looking to then move on. Just saying...

Great post. As well as acknowledging this predicament, our transfer targets should also sit below the radar with potential - not only will fees be realisitc, but also salary, for at least two seasons.
