Felix absolutely smacks of an opportunistic, last minute, Levy special which is what I fear our remaining transfer policy will resemble looking for perceived bargain deals instead of persevering with long standing scouted targets and/or recommendations from our team, be it Gabbanini/Paratici et al.

No other club with a coherent recruitment strategy would do the same.
Greenwood will be next!

The fact Chelsea didn't buy Felix sets off alarm bells for me. Maybe we can help Barca secure Felix by taking someone like Fati off of their hands, potentially with a bit of help from Alemany? We then get a new winger and a fair price for Hojbjerg.

I know Fati is a big risk injury wise but seems in good nick currently and I've seen a lot of Barca fans hoping they keep him (certainly in preference to Ferran Torres) which is often a good sign. His potential pre-injury was sky high.

For the price quoted for Felix you could probably get Chiesa and Fati and just hope at least one comes good!

Felix would be the most ideal as he's versatile and class. Although Fati can play on the left or up top his fitness is a concern. I think Felix can do a good job on the right as well as the left. Also see Felix as a starter but Fati more of an impact sub. I expect Felix will cost a lot more though. I guess if we don't sign Fati and Barca can't shift him it could leave the door open for us to get Felix. Although Barca always seem to find a way but I would say they would be happier getting Silva who could be available if City get Paqueta so that could also leave them out of the race for Felix.

Yup it's all starting to feel horribly familiar after a decent start to the window.

Doesn't feel as if there's much of a plan right now and it really wouldn't surprise me if Ange is handed a few misfits at the end of the window and nothing else
And the cycle repeats itself......

At this point, Atletico Madrid needs extra funds to meet Tottenham's valuation for the Pierre transfer. They've suggested Felix to Tottenham, but Felix prefers Barcelona. Notably, Tottenham has had a longstanding interest in felix.
Ange emphasises his preference for players who truly desire to join the team.

As it should be. The furore over Kane overshadowed the fact he had lost heart. I only want players determined to play for spurs.

Even if that means we avoid big names.

It has been said it’s a long standing interest, that he’s On a list (along with various others) and Ange has had input.

so whilst the circumstances might be opportunistic (PEH being used etc) it does sound as if there is at least some structure around targets. It just comes down to which of the names on the list becomes the best deal at the best time.

Levy’s problem is he never seems to appreciate that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. So he will pursue the ideal deal for too long and miss out on the alternatives. That’s why we have to hope has changed.

Felix is so talented but I think you need to build the entire attack around him and he's not really a 9, 10 or winger so is awkward to fit in to Ange's system.

Add in the fact that he doesn't work that hard off the ball and would see us as a last resort option... doesn't feel like a smart use of resources even if it would be very exciting and appease the fans in the short term.

Not to mention his wage demands would be absurd.

Agree with everything other than what I've bolded. He's a tireless worker on the pitch in fairness to him.

I keep reading this but where is the evidence?

Is it from the same place that said Eriksen was cheating with Jan's missus? Or that Lamela was a coke head?
I remember reading it in the news a while back, i think Porro denied it but Felix and his Mrs broke up so who knows.

Cheers WLB.

Felix is an interesting one. It was alluded to the other day we might look to use our #9 as a firmino type (kulu as the player mentioned). Felix is certainly more in that false 9 mould with more creative qualities than a conventional CF.

Where would you think he fits in?
Anywhere across the front three.

I don’t believe Ange needs a physical 9 so that could work but more so in the supporting roles given his pace on the ball. He’d be an upgrade on both Son and Kulu on current form.

I think he would link very well with JM in any of the three roles.

Cheers WLB! Hard pass on Felix from me, though. Not only does he have shit for brains, but he has no work ethic and has publicly declared his desire to join Barca. I feel like those who'd take him completely missed his spell at Chelsea. He was honestly useless.

And they wonder why we struggle to shift these guys down the line.

Buy cheap, buy twice......or in our case, buy cheap, can't shift, can't buy twice for at least 4 years.

Oh interesting, any chance you could link me to that post?
