From a rushed conversation with Gawain.

We are pushing hard to get 5 or 6 out, but as expected it isn’t easy. There is solid interest in 2 and medium interest in 2. A couple more we would like to leave but no tangible interest yet. Would like to bring in 2 or 3 before the window closes, but not completely confident we’ll get them over the line in time. One CB, one winger and ….. I don’t remember the position of the other one. Sorry.

If this transpires it’s absolute negligence from Levy and the board.
Just accept the lower fees because the unwanted players will only go down in price in the next windows anyway, it makes no sense keeping them.

We absolutely must get another CB and forward in no matter what otherwise Ange is hamstrung before he’s started.

To of sold Kane and made no plan for reinforcements after is outright embarrassing and incompetent.

How do you plan ahead for a problem where demand isn't there and what demand will be generated will only come at the end of the window.

Talking of speaking down, is it not arrogant to assume the management at the club don't know this and are basically idiots at their profession?

Again, the squad is good (albeit bloated) and ITK confirmed there may be up to 3 more signings. I'm positive about where we are.

You sit down and say, okay here is what we want to do, what problems may we incur along the way, well every season we struggle to move players on which then means we struggle to get our business done. Ask what causes the issues with moving players on and figure out what needs to be adjusted, I'm sure we can think of one. If nothing can be adjusted then you have to accept there was structural issues within recruitment that led to the mess and then you have to decide if there's nothing that can be done, are you willing to cut losses of the failed previous structure so you can move forward or are you going to stand still and incur the negative consequences of not cutting losses

Alternatively you can pretend to move forward but be unwilling to cut your losses and then fail to carry out your "plans" every year.

If you have plans in any aspect of life and the same thing happens again over and over, then you're trying to control uncontrollable variables. Instead of doing that, find out how to work around them. We don't do that, we keep hoping that magically the problems will solve themselves.

The club just needs to admit what it's priorities are.

When did I call them idiots? In regards to it being arrogant to assume management don't know, I can only go with what's in front of me and it's the same problem every single year that cause failure.

Nothing in the post you are replying to says that the trouble with the outgoing deals is the fees being too high. Reports i've read on proposed deals have been about the players not being willing to go to the interested clubs for whatever reason (Lloris to Lazio as he doesn't really want to be a no. 2 / TN not wanting to go to turkey / DS not wanting to go to Russia / Spence to Southampton).

It’s a bit of a vicious cycle, if we don’t strengthen because we are waiting for the deadwood to be sold then where is the incentive for the deadwood to move on, they simply wait the club out. if we take Dier as an example, one year to go on his contract and he wants to fight for a spot in the squad, where’s the incentive for him to move on. Replace him and let him know in no uncertain terms he doesn’t have a future and his incentive to move changes and perhaps his agent works a bit harder. Come the end of the transfer window and he’s still around then either cancel his contract or put him on garden leave, might seem brutal but players have got very comfortable at Spurs.

The base assumption you’ve made is that we’ve been approached by clubs to purchase players rather than simply loan them.

I would be absolutely surprised if we get in another three this window. I think as of now even two more is rather optimistic.
I would think it’s all dependent on who we can sell, I can understand this but will be frustrating not to add abit more quality.

Pretty crazy that we've sold our best ever goalscorer for a 9 figure sum and we're already starting to hear excuses (Prof ITK) with 2 weeks to go.

Doesn't bode well!

Clubs dont sell their best players in the last week of the window either. We've been here before too many times. I'd be amazed if we bring another striker in for Kane of the required quality now. It is just too late.

If we manage to move 6 out as per the ITK and they are on permanent deals then wonderful. Lloris, Dier, Sanchez all have a year left. Get what we can for them and move on. Regi, Sess, Ndombele, Hojbjerg, GLC, Tanganga, Davies all expire in 2025. We are a rich club and shouldnt be haggling over all of the prices within reason and it should mean we can move these groups of players on one way or another. They arent terrible, we just need to be creative.

The football world outside of Europe has no money. So unless we have interest from England, there's not a lot of options besides hoping buyers enquire, encouraging agents, and being very reasonable on prices.

You say we struggle to get our business done because of outgoings but that hasn't been the case in recent years has it. We must have bought over 15 players the past couple years and this was already with a big squad. Your convention may have been true many years ago but it isn't now.

That does mean there aren't one or two spots where, if we did shift players, we may act on (as one of the ITK posts suggested earlier) - but most of the work is being done early and without waiting on outgoings.

Let's agree to disagree or take it to another thread.

Let the tide of negativity begin🙄. It's so so boring
I get you but it's not negativity... it's disappoint on some supporters part to ITK shared.... I get there's a sub section who will bash the club...but there are those who are emotionally invested and will express disappointing to Prof's update.... there's a difference.

Now me.... I'm past it. I've seen this movie play out..... every season. Always left just a little short. Then again we want the rebuild done over a few windows not just 1 window.

Really not the thread for it

  • At some stage A&C will go through and delete a bunch of posts and remove people's access.
  • Those people will then PM me (not A&C, obviously!) and ask if there's been a "mistake" or a "bug" as they can't post in here and they've never broken the rules...
  • It happens every single fucking week and I'm done warning people.
