Call me captain obvious, but we have tried to sell but clubs are either offering derisory fees, or the likes of Sanchez have refused deals.
We can neither force players to leave, nor force clubs to pay an acceptable price
A derisory fee is better than no fee at all. We have to at some point face the facts that we are going to be paying players that we can't even register to play very very soon. So what exactly is an "acceptable fee" for a player you can't use and yet are still paying a hefty wage, because It's certainly not the market rate.

If it were my business I'd be on the blower to his agent and letting the likes of Ndombele leave for nothing right now if he could find a club, because all he is is a drain on resources and we are never going to recoup any money on him. Every season that we keep him, and loan him out whilst subsidising his wages it costs us more and more.

Yeah but you later you leave to accept that, limits the possibility of being able to get your targets, meaning that we secured a tidy profit without those pesky outlays dragging us down. Another Success summer soon to be in the books.

So let me understand this correctly........

If we'd have bought VDV, Maddison, Soloman, Vicario, Phillips and Veliz AND completed the Kulu and Porro transfers AFTER Harry was sold, we'd be over the moon, but because some of this business was concluded BEFORE we sold Kane, it's been a shambolic transfer window.

Thanks for confirming that I can be angry about it because I was a little confused.

we can negotiate for mutual termination like we did with Aurier

I dont read it as that at all.

The one thing the club new its had to do as soon as it appointed the new manager, was thin out the enormous squad.
And we'd hoped that our greatest ever player wouldn't be part of it!
If only there was a specific role that we could create at THFC to deal with all this......

Can't winner this enough. Take what you can fucking get. It is simply a false economy to have multiple players on £80-120k a week running down contracts, playing about 10 minutes this season taking up foreign player spots. Unless the player is a disruptive influence, all avenues necessary should be explored apart from full pay off contract cancellations.

I don't mean this disrespectfully, but Dier, Lloris, Reguilon, Tanguy, Japhet are of no use to us in a season without European football. We should be open to low offers on Sanchez as well, considering his contract situation. The only players we should be holding out for reasonable fees on are Spence, Bryan & PEH. And even with PEH, he's most definitely a player who will only go down in value after this summer.

Let me help you with your understanding, if you need to acquire two cb's, ensure you have a minimum of two senior strikers and replace the two outgoing wingers in the squad, then sell one of your strikers. Then it's irrelevant if you sign the aforementioned players before or after you sell one of your senior strikers, you still lack one of those cb's, one of those senior strikers and one of those wingers.

Hope that helps mate, I'm always here to untwist things anyway you wish to twist them.

Nope. It's a big disingenious to include Porro/Kulu but you can add Richy to that if you want as well and we'd still be very disappointed.

VDV, Maddison, Soloman, Kulu, Porro and Richy (ignoring the kids) is very much another Bale/Beatles moment and it's substantially worse than when Bale left.

We're missing several key players/positions.

As Trix has stated many time previously, this mindset means accepting that £0 were spent on those players in the windows they were acquired, so with hindsight how should those windows be evaluated? Using Porro for example, no money was spent in January on the first team because we were robbing from the summer window.

If you’re happy returning to the days of £0 net spend, have at it. Some of us aren’t after slogging through these years post-stadium.

I’d rather this way than seeing my club spend Saudi (PIF) blood money!

So would I but Human rights atrocities and incompetent transfer strategies shouldn't be the only two reasonably expected outcomes.

I mean the club could also take a pragmatic view of market value vs opportunity cost on our dead wood, without the need for compulsory beheadings in the Hotspur Way car park.

Honestly, i'm glad Kane left. Because as much as I'd have loved him to stay, us to strengthen and really give him the team to challenge for titles that he deserves, i'd have hated for him to still be here at the end of the window, with the same old excuses rolled out about how we couldn't spend until we sold, and Kane wasting another year of his career in a DL squad.

Do we have new info about transfer processes in and out? Is it still a committee where Levy has the final word and does final negotiations?
Do they still make list for every positions where our manager never gets his first choice?
My impression is that Ange is or more pragmatic like Poch where in contrast to Conte, and happy to get his 3rd choice. Our lack of ability to get rid of players have been a concern for years now and I would belive we were interested in improving in this area as Levy surely as a numbers guy have to see this...?

We need to make it impossible for Levy to still be Chairman of this club. I don't know how we do it but it has to happen.

Thanks for the info.

Every year we should have a good transfer budget of around £80-£120m to improve the squad (just look at what our rivals regularly spend).

This year we've also sold our talisman for £100m so should have around £180-£220m to spend.

We've spent around £105m (the Porro and Deki transfers don't count - see posts above).

So where has the rest of the money gone?

Appreciate the ITK and it's not wildly unexpected. But it doesn't make it any less unacceptable.

Thx for the info. Not surprised one bit. We are the only club in the PL that needs to sell to spend. Strange really.

I despise Levy and ENIC and the defences get more and more baffling but this is just one ITK saying this and from what I recall he mostly posts negative stuff when it comes to DL.

I'm sure we need to move players on and Levy is hesitant to bring more in until then but I do think we shouldn't jump the gun in anger just yet as Dragon is the only one saying money is an issue

Good point, it could be inaccurate, however we are still waiting for 2 or 3 that we need and that window is closing soon. Plus, he still has to go for his bs for the last few years and the false promises
