Its this blind loving for all things foreign that make me not want to read some of the interesting points you try to make

Even though they've got more than 20 caps between them (for a superior national side), compared to Smalling and Jones' none?

With Wenger admitting they will sell Fiberglass a Nasri before the weekend they will have 60m to spend. We should act fast or forget about getting any of our targets.

I really hope defoe stays and comes back sharp hungry and banging in goals. The sheer lack of support for the guy on the back of an injury ravaged (poor by his standards) season is simply embarassing

I still love the wee man and hope he can find some form of old.

However all three can be upgraded, but Defoe is the one I would be definitely keeping.

Last season Suarez had 47 shots, 23 on target, and scored 4 goals (one of which really should have gone down as an OG).

Defoe had 42, 23 on target, and also scored 4.

Isn't that interesting?

We didn't sign the nasty, cheating, diving little shit. Let's get over it.

So we have a striker playing his first six months in the EPL, playing for an inferior side (not by much) managing to equal a player with 8/9 years playing in this league. Whilst he was doing that he also managed to see the ball nearly 200 times more and pass it 100 times more than Defoe whilst playing 300 less minutes of football.

And whilst the dutch league might be full of cloggers, the CL and international football isn't, and he has an almost 1 in 2 ratio in both.

Think Tacsi and Hummels are Germany's Smalling and Jones (though probably better).

Kaboul has all the physical attributes to succeed but sadly none of the mental ones. He'll never move out of Dawson's shadow as our 'brawn' CB IMO.

He did that on his debut.

Kaboul is a far more cultured a defender than you give him credit for, one who regularly last season managed to bring the ball out of defence and look to start our attacks with more incisive passes on the deck than just merely lumping forward to Crouch.

A fantastic athlete who combines fantastic aerial ability, awareness of players around him and great close control - he is the prototype for any successful centre back and whilst I don't doubt he can be a tad naive at times, this will surely come with experience and being in a settled back line in his natural position.

Exactly. Can you imagine Dawson ever playing in CM or RB like Kaboul has.

Or on the back of about 6 years touching the ball about 6 times a game.

Unfourtunately yes.

Its such a one dimensional view its frightening. Both the German lads are talented for sure, but Smalling and Jones are both incredible talents and I beleive that given the benefit of hindsight in 5 years time, you'll be proven to look very stupid with that judgement.

I know english football isnt at its best internationally, but we are still producing some pretty shit hot players mate. Just take off the glasses some times

does not say much for our scouting when smalling just played down road in fulham. at least arsenal were in for him and if not mistaken all set to joing them until united came in and blew them outa water. we have to identify young players alot earlier but i worry when young players right on our doorstep get picked up by clubs miles away. someone in scouting is not doing their job

With the reported targets we share with Arsenal, the best ones appear to rather go to there than come to the Lane. The main one being Mata. Out of the defenders, Samba and Cahill, I'm not fussed about either, and I don't know enough about Ruiz to make a fair judgement.

Our main targets appear to be Diarra and a striker (Rossi/Ade/Llorente), and I don't see any of those 4 going to Arsenal so i doubt Levy will speed up deals on account of Arsenal coming into some money.

Corrected for you.

In the last 12 months I've watched the England full side at the WC, the U21's Euro Chamionship and the U20's WC. They managed one win between them in all tournaments and were just about the poorest side that I watched in each.

The scariest of all were the U20's who couldn't score a goal in four games, and worse could barely string three passes together.

A lot of reports tonight saying that Sven is about to make a 3 million bound bid for Keane....didn't Robbie say recently he wouldn't go to the Championship, although I'm sure wages would be decent enough up there...

He said he just wants to play football. He never rules out the championship but did say he'd take offers from the premier league over any from the championship

And at each level we were victims of club withdrawals.

Are you aware that at the U20 competition that you highlighted, we had 19 withdrawals?

I dont see any other nation putting up with that.

We could have taken walcott, Wilshere, and Carroll to name but 3 to the under 21's but they were withdrawn. Where as Spain were still taking world cup winners like Mata.

Its harsh to judge the talent pool on the back of international acheivements for England. I prefer to judge the talent week in week out with my own eyes in the worlds toughest league

I agree, I love defoe as well BUT I think he should be moved on as he would, unhappy sitting on the bench, its happened in the last two seasons where he has come out and said he wants play or leave or wants a chance even though he has played more than pav

I agree, a lot of the English players do look better when they are back at their clubs and can play with foreigners.

To be fair, I like the look of Smalling and Jones, and King and Ferdinand are as good a CB's as you'll find anywhere.

But personally I don't care what nationality footballers are, it just so happens that English footballers don't represent value for money. The best ones can compare with good foreign players but they will cost three times more, and will have spent most of their lives being coached by half wits.

this i agree with

But because of the FFP and nationality regualations, this amazing difference in values is exaggerated even more. Andy Carroll has ability, but to be mentioned in the same breath as say David Villa, Samuel Eto'o Wesley Sneider, its simply not right (yet if ever)

and so another day goes by and nothing remotely close to happening :violin:

Shocking ain't it. Just got home from a 12 hour shift and was hoping to see a bit of itk. Sod all really.

I'm worried our players are going to see all the clubs around us getting stronger but we are slowly moving backwards.

None of the other teams see us as a threat anymore. Amazing how many Interviews I've read and we never get mentioned. Unless a miracle happens regarding our signings our biggest rivals will be fulham and everton.

Moan over. Long shift got the better of me.

Emmanuel Adebayor, the Manchester City striker, is close to a loan move to Tottenham Hotspur, who offered to pay £75,000 of his £175,000-a-week wages last month.

Agree. Definitely an £8m player rather than a £80m player.

Ryan Babel with a comic book hero's name.

And a Superhero goal & assist tally.

He got more goals than Falcao last season and, judging by the stats, the margin would have been greater had Hulk not also contributed to Falcao's tally.

If the merit in a striker is goals scored and assists given, how is Hulk a lesser player than Falcao?
