If Everton really want Lennon and are the only bidders they might believe they can get him with a £4m bid. Knowing we want to sell they are then in a strong position.

If other decent clubs come in for him offering £5m they have a choice to make. They can change their bid or they can take a risk and not match the other offers. Lennon hearing Everton aren't upping their bid might end up choosing to go elsewhere.

The Everton board might not also want to tell their manager they aren't getting a target he wants because they won't offer the extra million needed. This can leave the manager feeling he isn't supported.

It really is a lot more complex, but also simple to understand, than what you are saying.

Sorry but you are wrong. I laid out a concrete scenario and you are introducing assumptions, e.g. Lennon "might choose" to go elsewhere. If Lennon insists, as I said, on going to Everton and Everton refuse to pay more than 4 mill then spurs have to take it or leave it, they have no choice. You can't make Lennon go somewhere he doesn't want to go and to can't make Everton pay more that they want to. Fact

yes but that was a few days ago and said it would be within a few days - almost a melt down on SO where he posts as he cannot explain the delay.

We have to take into account the fact that Lennon's wage demands are surely much, much higher than the Gayles and Chesters of the world, making his transfer more expensive overall and driving down the fee clubs might be willing to pay.

More or less, he told AVB that he thought Leandro was not good enough. The next day he wrote an apology and said he wasn't going to post much in the future because he had upset people at the club not sure if it was what he said of the fact that he told everyone else what he said,

I do feel for the ITKs this window. We seem to really struggle to push large deals through when not flush from selling our best player for once, which has caused plenty of numpties to give them stick when their no doubt solid info has yet to pan out.

Timescales are clearly shifted when we start venturing towards the net spend promised land.

Think it's prone to happening all the time. Most itk's will have only one (or maybe two) sources who will only see part of the deals and therefore it can be wrong - as an example if the source is the guy drawing up a contract, its never certain if that has ben signed, all that is known is that there are no more contract amendments and the client (club) says he's happy.

Ten years ago there were more itk's and we were in awe of the info given out. Now with many more online info soireces, too many are impatient and somehow expecting an hour by hour update which is ludicrous.

Think all itk's now need to add to their info a long caveat :

'the info was correct at the time of giving and events may change the information or cause delays to the stated timescales..'

Shame, would have suited us down to the ground. Has the chance to establish himself as the main man at his boyhood club this season though so can't fault him really.
