There is a saying in Italian, well Voltaire actually made it famous in French, but he got it from an Italian text.
"Il meglio e nemico del bene". It means that the cost of perfection can be too high, and maybe it is better to settle for simply "good" or "good enough".

It strikes me that Levy must subscribe to this paradigm. Never is he opposed to doing transfers, but maybe he is restricted by having no desire to acquire 1 perfect deal at a surplus, when there is always several good deals to hunt down for a discount. I know Grey Fox said that the latest ITK from him is NOT Levy's fault, and I applaud that. But on the other hand, we run into these problems a lot, don't we. There is always something happening that is "not anybodies fault".

Perfect is the enemy of good. To dare is to do. There is no time like the present, but there is always another tomorrow.
Is Tottenham stuck in the middle?

Is this ITK or can this post be taken over to the "Crazed Rambling Philosophy Thread"?

;-)

By "it", I assume you mean A&C's ban-stick. And by "in", you mean the place where the air is currently escaping from, which you will find is surprisingly south from where you think.

Have we ever sold a player that's gone on to be amazing? Players that we weren't forced into selling
Generally players deteriorate or vanish into obscurity when they leave spurs, apart from the obvious ones we were forced to sell. I suppose Kevin Prince Boateng is the exception that proves the rule. I've wracked my brains and can't think of any others at all.
Interestingly, the same goes for managers. We really are a managers' graveyard when you think about it, apart from Venables I suppose.

I see it on my PC
I see it on my phone
ITK's all around me
And so the feeling grows
It's written in the RO
It's everywhere I go, oh yes it is
So if you've cryptics for me
Come on let's have a go
I'll try to solve you, I sometimes will
My mind comes up with shit
Maybe I'm ill
There's no Berahino,
There'll be N'Jie
'cause A&C felt it is his wee
I see JJ before me
As I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking
Of all the things he said, oh yes I did
He gave us Bejam early
And Ryan Nelson too
Hang on, somethings inside me
It's A&C's ban tool
Some here they love it, they always will,
I kind of think they're the ones
Who are ill
Cos since the beginning,
And until the end
This ITK is what on we depend
Got to give good ratings
Oh it's written in the RO
Oh everywhere I go, yeah, oh well
So if you really love it, love it, love it
Come on, enjoy the show
Buffering..........................

Bale, modric, carrick, berbatov, judus, popescu, klinsman, sherringham, waddle, hoddle, gazza to name a few that didn't go down hill after leaving Spurs (a few of them came back)

The point was players that we were happy to let go a la Carroll all those are players we wanted to keep so completely missing the point. A bit like the way this thread is going so let's try get it back on track.

Just read Grey Fox's update. If true I cannot believe we might be chancing it till deadline day or close too. I can see us having another Moutinho situation if it's left to then or a plan f. I hope we make some serious inroads soon.

Pretty sure he goes onto explain it's nothing to do with us but rather agents and players. Why every time deals get delayed or dragged does it immediately go to the club or Levy holding out till deadline day.

Grey Fox's post seems to indicate that if we make more signings it will be down to the wire. Quite astonished that we have no DM yet let alone last minute or, God forbid, not at all.

If it comes to that then I hope we don't buy and go into January before we buy who we need.
Much rather that than buy for the sake of pleasing us fans with another player for the sake of it..

Yeah very true. Shame we get used to get new contracts or more money from other buying clubs. So frustrating.

daniel sits in his office, reordering his head shining sprays in order of size and how reflective it makes his cranium. he practices his "80th minute of tottenham 1-2 swansea" face for use later this year in the mirror. he throws some old match attax cards into a hat, catching a glimpse of one whilst it twirls in the air, wondering whether the man pictured, steve stone, is still playing. whether steve stone ever played. who steve stone even is. who daniel levy even is. who is he? perhaps he should hold off the head shining spray for a while.

he looks at his 2003 boyzone calendar (because they're always the same days, franco). "not yet", he says, to no one in particular. "not yet. we wait, as we always do. it has literally never gone wrong before. not on a single occasion has waiting gone wrong." the ghost of leandro damiao's potential howls through his vent again. somewhere in monaco, joao moutinho is sighing in the monte carlo sun, thinking, "i'd really love to be in some shitty kebab shop on tottenham court road right now"
