Five CBs always seemed like too many for me, but JJ indicated that was the plan. I am hoping this is an indication that Wimmer is further along than they originally thought making Fazio expendable.

I would normally say 5 CB is more than is needed but....

It seems like every November (and then again around early March) we have a "defensive injury crisis" and we seem to find ourselves having debates along the lines of "Can we move Walker to CB and have Andros play RB?" or "What about Dembele/Bentaleb/Lennon at CB?". We seem to end up with 1 fewer CB than we actually need every season.

Not particularly fussed if Fazio goes. I guess if we are willing to let Fazio go then CCV has really been impressive, or maybe we keep Milos around (wasn't there ITK that Leeds wanted him on loan?) to pick up that lesser used depth through youth

I think it is far more likely Fazio has asked to leave, he is at the peak of his career, he wants to play, if he can't get games here he will go somewhere where he can

Yes - I think the plan might have been to give Wimmer an EPL loan next season and keep Fazio as one of the 4. But perhaps Wimmer has impressed sufficiently in pre-season?

Either that, or while the club would like to keep him, Fazio is (admirably) seeking a move in search of football?

Happy with this, every player I wanted to move on we have either shifted or are trying to!
Same here. Would still love to sell Andros but that doesn't look like happening (Madness IMO but there we go)... To an extent I'd sell Dembele as well, but I think he's being kept on to keep all the Belgian's happy. It's well documented that him and Jan are BFFs

Sadly no space for Fazio. Wasted year for him. Dier should be used as back up CB and as a fifth choice we have CCV and Veljkovic who are way cheaper and could do to be nearer at the first team. For real emergencies Ball is there as well and Davies and Walker have played there sometimes before.

Isn't he the lad that's gone to QPR?

Yeah, dunno why it hasn't worked out for him really, he's obviously a pretty good defender. I suspect he's asked to leave and I doubt we'll have any problems attracting suitors. With wimmer he's not needed anymore- more money for transfer kitty. Have to get a move on though.

Fazio going is a win, win, win.

We claim some money and wage relief for someone who looked bench bound all season. A driven player gets to continue his career without too much disruption (wish Ade would show the same commitment to his career) and CCV and Veljkovic get one step closer to their destiny.

Some may not... but I wish Fazio all the best and hope he nails his next move.

Can we give the whole Mike bashing a rest, please? Not only is it quite boring, some of the stuff he gets is quite distasteful. What's worse is that some people are not replying directly to challenge his opinion but just mocking him. He's a spurs fan. One of us. Who has never been abusive to anyone on here.
You can honestly say that with a straight face? It shows obviously you have missed the reasons for the various replies to his posts. The points of most of his posts are not in question, its how it is delivered. I am sure there are more suitable adjectives than donkey to describe Fazio who all be it limited, gave his best for our shirt.

I for one liked Fazio and would not have minded if he stayed, but I can see the logic. I hope his replacements prove themselves to be credible upgrades.

Its not quite a win win win if we have a couple of injures and have CCV starting as centre back in the NLD but yes it makes sense at the moment to use the cash elsewhere

If we have a couple injuries we still have Wimmer and Dier.

Nice.

Fazio is a donkey and we need funds for targets. Completely surplus now we have Toby and Dier.
Mike, the ITK have said repeatedly that our incomings aren't dependent on players leaving. Why do you persist with this? You're wrong. Stop it.

Sorry Mikee but I genuinely disagree with the bit about Dembele being kept on to keep other Belgians happy, disageed when some posters said that about Corlucka being kept to keep Modic happy.

He doesn't need to he brought in Toby.

What he said was hardly that bad. Lots of players, particularly defenders, who cant run get labelled as donkeys. I bet most on here have used the term to describe Mertesacker and others for example, maybe even disastrous defenders from our past.

Lets face it, he's slow, even slower on the turn and has terrible distribution. As I've said before, if he was playing for a lower level team in the PL or a team that defends deep then I don't think he would be a bad player and I reckon he would do quite well. However whoever signed him thinking that he was suitable for a team playing high up the pitch, holding a high line and wanting centre backs to play out from the back should really be hauled in front of the fans and made to explain their reasoning and then be promptly dismissed.

Hopefully the ITK is correct anyway, purely because 5 centre backs is too many.

I thought you were talking about Mikee at first.
