Looking likely Carroll will go.

Gosh, we really are shedding our load. I'm surprised as he would be a good alternative to Eriksen and could play in the centre of a 'midfield 3' (in our 4-3-3 formation). At 23 perhaps he's seeking more first XI football that we can't guarantee, but looking at the number of games we played last season and how jaded our first XI got by the end, you'd think he'd be in with a shout at a lot of playing time. And if he believes in himself and puts in some good performances in the Premier League, perhaps he could nail down a spot?

We have Pritchard for that, and Poch seems to see Dembele as a CAM rather than a CM. The kid has been on loan season after season too, I don't blame him for wanting to leave, if he indeed does. No sense in keeping him if he isn't going to play. We have too many youngsters waiting for their own chance.

Pritchard would be a better alternative to Eriksen.

Too bad about Carroll. I really enjoyed watching him, Mason and Winks tap the ball between them. Looked like they had fun.

Yeah makes sense. Cheers Trix.
I'm sorry but how did this post warrant any form of Spam rating? I take anything on the chin, but literally spam rating everything I say is ridiculous and is not needed in this thread/forum.

I don't care what people think of me or say about me, I've expressed that as I only care about Spurs. I'm just thinking of the site and unnecessarily p*ssing off A&C and co.

I'm really liking this. With 5 more looking like leaving (Ade, Soldado, Lennon, Fazio and Carroll), it really does look like Poch is going for a Mourinho-style tight 22 man squad.

For me I think it's time to for Carroll to move on (he's not young anymore) and us to give Winks and Onomah a shot.

Carroll has always been outshone by peers on his loans - from Hughes at Derby to Shelvey at Swansea

Well, among Eriksen, Pritchard, Dembele, and Carroll - getting time at the AM3 positions was always going to be tricky. I had assumed the roster spot was between Carroll and Dembele, and it looks like Dembele has secured that job for now.

Unlucky on Carroll, looked very lively the couple of pre-season moments I saw him with lung busting runs and good movement. But the theme of this transfer window is "In Poch/Mitchell We Trust" so I guess he just didn't think he could use him.

Considering he plays in the attacking midfield 3 whenever Poch has used him, I highly doubt we will be short. Add the imminent signing of N'jie and obvious inclusion of Pritchard (who is a much better player IMO and fits Poch's philosophy a lot more)

That's irrelevant when injuries occur and the fixtures come thick and fast.

With a Paulinho and Stombouli gone there was always going to be room in and around the matchday squads for Carroll especially in the Europa and Cup squads.

If he leaves it does start to leave us a little short in the CM area although I expect Winks to appear.

Pritchard I would assume would fill in in that LW area and possibly cover for Eriksen. N'jie is a wide offensive player who I wouldn't expect his squad position to have any bearing on Carroll's.

Unfortunately, it's a kinda of self made perception thing. The perception being that you post needless spam, for the sake of it, rather than adding anything constructive to the discussions.

I'm not saying thats how I see you post, I quite enjoy your different against the norm approach, reminds me of my dad and brothers opinions about spurs, and I wouldn't rate anything that bad unless it really was.

Chin Up I s'pose!

I was in agreement with this initially but he's been great in pre-season at CAM.

One of a very few in our squad with the ability to see and execute a pass. There's a chance we could miss him.

He can see a pass, but from a lot of what i have seen of him he struggles a bit more the executing of said pass.

Shame about Carroll, he looked very promising when he broke into the first team set up, but he hasn't really pushed on. He looked good in the pre season, but then didn't feature at all in the season opener so if Pich doesn't view him as an effective player in either an advanced or deeper role (positions we weren't exactly thriving in on Saturday) then it's best to move him on

In the right set up he will probably look a cracking little player and everyone will be bemoaning selling him

Fazio and Carroll added to the likely outgoings, but we're still in a position where Chadli is seemingly our first alternative up front and Dier is starting at CM and apparently nothing imminent coming in. Well played powers that be.

Fazio possibly leaving comes as no surprise. You've really got to wonder who sanctioned the deals we made last year. Dier has been a good shout because if age and versatility, but Stambouli and Fazio were onbviously mistakes if we're shifting them only a year later.

As for Carroll, I'm not surprised either. I like the kid but he just lacks that bit of oomph about him. Good kid, tidy little player, but I don't think he has what it takes to step up to this level.

If the experienced CM comes in (ITK says we are trying) the we have him plus Mason, Bentaleb and Alli - that's 4 players which is enough in a 4231 - plus of course Winks, Onomah and a few other youngsters who will be coming through in the next year or so.

So at CM he would struggle for games.

Whilst as an AM he would be competing with Eriksen and Pritchard as a no 10 with Onomah also trying to get game time there (plus Chadli and Lamela who can play there).

So sadly he might not game time if he stays and a new experienced CM comes in.

Great shame - watched his first team back in 2011 !

Trix ITK is totally logical and expected
