So the ITK has suddenly flooded into the RO, looks like many targets being pursued and weirdly almost every position being considered.

It's kinda scatter gunned, with different sources obviously having different information. Salt must be applied of course but Pochettino looks like he'll get his 3 to 4 shiny new signings. With our squad being massively bolstered. Personally I'm hoping for Barkley, Sanchez and one of Lemar/Balde/Martial but I'll be happy with the first two plus whoever else we can nab

Barkley, Sanchez, a third choice keeper and some kid is not an unbelievable window. Unless you meant in a poor way. People are becoming far too easily pleased simply because they want signings and its late. End of last season, most would agree that this plus the loss of Walker would be a terrible outcome, especially as most didn't even seem to want Barkley back then.

Maybe not for you but as far as I'm concerned the bringing in of a very good attacking midfielder who can push and compete with Dele, Eriksen and Son, all of whom are good enough for our aspirations, as well as push Lamela, who is also more than able, is brilliant.

Bringing in a top class young centre back who a) future proofs us against the age of Vertonghen and Alderweireld and b) will provide strong competition for them, as well as allowing us versatility of formation which doesn't depend on having both Wanyama and Dier fit, is brilliant.

Then bringing in a top talent in central midfield, one who poseesses the physical and athletic gifts our manager clearly values in this area of the pitch, is brilliant and, as with the centre back, allows us versatility of formation which doesn't depend on having both Wanyama and Dier fit at the same time.

Lastly, a third choice goalie is necessary and if none of our young ones are up to it then someone who our manager knows and trusts (and remember, reserve goalies are also in effect sparring partners/ additional coaches for the first choice) is brilliant.

Ergo, Ali Z's info, if correct and it comes to fruition, represents an excellent summers business as far as I'm concerned, if dramatically improves our squad depth and gives us a far more competitive squad.

I agree that they are good additions, just not priority additions. However I have now deleted that message as its been quoted 2/3/4 times and that discussion doesn't really belong here. Happy to have it elsewhere.

This would make it an unbelievable window if it all transpires. Whether or not we want a wide forward, our play certainly isn't predicated on having one, and if KWP is getting his chance I'm all for that. Depth in AM would be great, CB options enhanced would be great, CM options enhanced would be great, I'll take all of that.

And I'm not even that traumatised by the thought of no signings!
In those 4 signings, only Barkley strengthens us where we are weak. Sanchez is just a Wimmer replacement and CB hasn't really been a weak area for us. We are light at right back although I do like KWP and we lack attacking depth to cope with multiple competitions. That window doesn't really address our issues even though 3 of the players would be good signings.

I'd like us to add a quick and direct winger to that tbh, we only have Son who is proven.

We would be left with a weak spot in RB and still no proper pace in our attack. One of these is a result of us selling Walker and the other has been a weak area for years, and both of them should take priority over CB and CM. I'm kind of disappointed in the latest from Ali Z.

I'd say it does strengthen us, he might not improve on Toby and Jan but he does, by all accounts, improve on Wimmer which strengthens our central defence, we could actually play three at the back with our three centre backs playing, Poch doesn't seem to have been able to do that with Wimmer.

It really shouldn't be too much for the premier league runners up to get a RB to replace the one they sold (to a direct rival no less), plus the pacy forward that we so obviously and desperately need.

I'd also argue that it's not too much to expect a backup striker who actually scores goals, but I'll get down voted to hell and back, so I won't do that. ;)
There's an argument to be had for 'less is more'. Four first team squad players is enough if a key component of the squad is a shared attitude and togetherness. No matter how well the characters of the new players have been researched, signing six or seven makes it more likely that one or more of them could disrupt team harmony.

If the window closes where we have only (arguably) become weaker at right back/wing-back and we have strengthened our depth in other positions then we will have done well.

The fast right wing player plays instead of Eriksen, Alli or Son , three players who have developed a good understanding, score bags of goals and provide numerous assists. I'm convinced we have not seen the best of GKN.

Our proposed signings make sense in terms of playing 3 at the back. A RB would be good.

Problem with machine guns is that they miss a lot of the time.

Agreed except a pacey quality AM is probably what we need most and none of those fit the bill, unless poch trusts n'koudu. Otherwise all your points very valid and IF we can get these signings in we will have a near complete squad.

For those who haven't seen it:

Who: Gards
When: 15th August
Where: SC

Aurier not happening, no bid for RS [Ryan Sessegnon], BKD [Keita Balde Diao] unfortunately not happening which is frustrating.
We are looking at wing forwards but the club is calm and things are starting to move. I would be stunned if DS [Davinson Sanchez] doesn't get done but we have been there before,
RB [Ross Barkley] Has agreed PT [personal terms] for sometime again this may be last minute, diop [Pape Chiekh Diop].... This has come from knowhere and I have no clue on that link."

I wonder if there will be further Barkley ITK now the Gylfi deal has gone through (subject to medical).
