ali z: Latest I hear we will get 4 in including saints keeper, sanchez and Barkley ( will be last deal) and somewhat surprisingly diop. Slightly dissaponted by no RB or pacy wide forward type not coming in but what i heard.

I'm also disappointed. Perhaps it was too much to expect both a RB and a pacy forward, but neither? Frustrating.

Thanks for this, dov. Could really do with a pacy wide forward, an upgrade on GNK.
upset that we're once again not addressing our wide forward issue. We're seriously lacking pace in this team apart from Son.
FWIW JJ 'agreed' with this post about Keita, so he seems to think we're still after another attacker:

Let's not get disappointed given JJ had already said it was off. Indications we're still looking for an attacking player so I wouldn't worry.

Also asked about sessegnon told nothing new since June

Sessengon we want him but not this year.
This would make it an unbelievable window if it all transpires. Whether or not we want a wide forward, our play certainly isn't predicated on having one, and if KWP is getting his chance I'm all for that. Depth in AM would be great, CB options enhanced would be great, CM options enhanced would be great, I'll take all of that.

And I'm not even that traumatised by the thought of no signings!

Barkley and Sanchez are serious improvements to the squad. Whether Barkley is being molded into a CM2 or will provide cover for Eriksen, he's a much needed utility midfielder. Sanchez gives us options in the back 3. The discussion over Wimmer always centers around his cover for Jan during 15/16, but that was in a traditional back 4. He's not suited to the back 3. Sanchez also allows Dier to be available to cover RB, CM2 and CB. With Trippier, KWP, and Dier; we aren't better at RB, but we're not lacking in options.

Given the prices and age of Diop, I don't think he's meant to be an immediate upgrade. He'll need plenty of time to adapt to our system, and hopefully he can play in some cups. But is he better than Onomah?

In terms of the pacy wide forward, maybe this year they've decided that if they can't get a true game changer then don't bother at all i.e N'jie, GKN, Sissoko

Forwards of the required quality is also way more expensive than a defender or a central midfielder if the required quality. That's probably why we have a top defense and midfield, but lack in the wide forward department and we hope to strike gold on players like Clinton, Janssen and GNK.

Barkley, Sanchez, a third choice keeper and some kid is not an unbelievable window. Unless you meant in a poor way. People are becoming far too easily pleased simply because they want signings and its late. End of last season, most would agree that this plus the loss of Walker would be a terrible outcome, especially as most didn't even seem to want Barkley back then.
I always wanted Barkley, I will be happy with Sanchez and hopefully one or two more, whilst you may have a case for saying it isn't an unbelievable window you are wrong to the contrary, it is most definitely not a terrible outcome.

It really shouldn't be too much for the premier league runners up to get a RB to replace the one they sold (to a direct rival no less), plus the pacy forward that we so obviously and desperately need.

I'd also argue that it's not too much to expect a backup striker who actually scores goals, but I'll get down voted to hell and back, so I won't do that. ;)
