Why?
He will want a 3/4 year contract, probably on money equal to Kane, if not more.
He is then going to spend most of his time on the bench, to be used as an impact sub, or to come in when Kane has a midweek rest.
Imagine the fun and games in a few months time, when he's had enough of being a sub and starts to whinge and whine.

Personally I'd rather we went for someone who will know and accept the likely role of bit-part/backup player.

Sweet! Lets dig out Rasiak's number...Perfect fit!!

This seems to be getting too much air-time - the whole bad attitude thing.
SB surely watches football and can see that Harry Kane is one of the in-form strikers in the league. He must be aware that coming to Spurs, there would be no guarantees of starting ahead of Harry other than the odd game here and there. And yet, he still seems to be holding out to come to us.

It also wouldnt suprise me if the bad-attitude rumours came from us to try and knock the price a little for these negotiations.

Im still quietly confident that we will get him and there will be little stink from him about being on the bench, well, no more than any other keen professional....

Well it looks like we need to sell Townsend to raise the money.
I will happily have a bet with you we won't bring anyone in for more than Townsend goes for?
I'm not saying we will or we won't. But just because we won't spend more than £12m on Berahino doesn't mean we wouldn't spend more on another player.

I think the figure comes from how much we can spend not so much how much he's worth...

If we were able to pay over 20 million back in August, money which we never spent on any other targets, I don't get why we wouldn't be able to spend at least that now. I know he has not played much and has had a bit of an attitude problem the last few months, but surely his value has not been cut in half.

I wonder how we got a squad together that is challenging for a Champions League place if Levy is stupid ?

But, but, but , BUT...... We'd have won the whole world if, over the last 6 years or whatever it is, Levy had gone out & bought some nets. Or something like that, it's definitely something to do with nets

We probably can. That doesn't mean we want to or should.

Key For me if he is still the managers number one target. If he is, what type of ambition does that show to Poch when Newcastle are rumored to be bidding 18 million and the highest we are willing to go is 12 for our managers number one target for our main position of need while we are in the title and champions league hunt.

I have seen this song and dance before in the January transfer window and it led to us not qualifying for champions league when it was easily attainable by not upgrading and bringing in reinforcements.

Of course this is only my onion but out of the 4 clubs I've heard that are linked with him recently, Us, Chelsea, Newcastle and Stoke, i reckon he'd only be a guaranteed starter at Newcastle. Maybe stoke as well but they have their rotating 3 that are doing so well for them. Of course he's cup tied so that rules out another run of games he could have had, assuming we'd all progress.

Daily Fail reporting that we've had a 25 mill bid for Jackson Martinez turned down.

I doubt so if Levy use forward proceeds to make a bid, we can easily bid 20m even without UCL by finishing top 5. However if this is our valuation then we should also know this deal is a no go. Hence I really don't see any point to even make a bid.... Just get someone from abroad. No point bickering with Peace when we have top 4 at stake i.e. 50m - 60m rev.

Let's forget about SB... We can do not worse with the 24m we had use to bid in summer.

You are correct, but we are trying to do what we usually do and get something on the cheap because we've spotted a potential opportunity to do. Only problem is this potential window of "opportunity" is so small you need a fucking microscope to see it. We must know Peace won't accept half of what we offered 4 months ago, but we are trying it on. At the expense of the football team and the manager. Poch either wants him or doesn't. If Poch truly believes his attitude could ruin everything then we shouldn't even be bothering. If he doesn't and thinks he'd be the perfect fit we should stop with the games and do everything in our power to get it done.

Well Poch just said this

"I am happy with the squad we have - we have quality to fight in different competitions. Maybe the people or you (the media) are concerned but I am happy with the squad we have. If we are to improve we have to add the right player, but if we can't find the right player then we will not buy anyone."

But, its what, 6 months until he is free? Make more sense now?
