Or he would just take the spot of someone coming through. Bassong hasn't had much of a go this year and Caulker wouldn't get near to the side if we keep adding more reasonably good but not excellent defenders.

Bassong wants to leave, or is at the very least keeping his "options open", and Caulker is more then likely off to a PL club on loan. App. Wigan might be interested by the sound of things (read it from someone on a Bristol forum a couple of months ago, who said he had met Dave Whelan), yet with Woodgate off and Bassong off we are left with King, Dawson, Gallas and Kaboul left. We will need another CB unless we think Caulker will walk into the team next season.

Yeh why not give Caulker a shot at 5th choice? I'm all for it personally.

But we have 3 of those, and Dawson. And our younger CBs (Kaboul, Bassong and Khumalo) aren't exactly banging the door down.

If we buy a CB it's got to be an improvement on what we already have - a Subotic or Chiellini etc.

Or otherwise known as the most overrated CB in Italy, and this is comming from a Juve fan. Dawson is a better CB then Chiellini. Chellini is however a decent Left Back

Personally I think it will be more beneficial for him and us to play games at PL level, he is what? 18/19? We still don't know if he is going to make it at this level, loan him out for half a season at least.

Caulker could go to QPR...would be a good loan for all.

Agreed. Norwich could actually do with him too. Either would be a great move for him.

Needs to be playing PL football IMO.

Signings like Distin are a waste of time, he will either not play or will hinder the progress of the like of Kaboul/Caulker. Absolute madness

Perisic could be on as Dortmund are apparently signing Xherdan Shaqiri(the kid who scored that great goal for Switzerland vs England not too long ago) for around £6m ..

Certainly more exciting than Distin!

Oh I do love the silly season.

Pretty certain Madrid want shot of Kaka... any takers?

Have people actually seen Distin play this season? I know I see teams from the north west play more than most, but c'mon! He's been excellent this year.

Anyway Pedro Geromel is the defender we should sign. The likes
of Subotic and Hummels aren't moving anywhere.

No, to be fair I haven't seen much of Distin this season... not saying he is a bad player though, just not a name that fills me with excitement.

The only positive spin I can put on Distin is that hes experienced and cheap. He could plug a gap whilst we put all our resources into the striking dept.

If I were to look at it negatively I would say we are in for a majorly disappointing window.

He could be Paolo Maldini for all I care, I'm getting fed up with Harry trying to fill the squad with OAP's putting our long term future in jeopardy. Gallas as good he has been has pretty much ruined Bassong, now we want to do the same to Kaboul, where's that going to leave us in a couple of years time?

He is absolutely rubbish these days!

yeah have to agree with you... the question would be whether he could regain any of his previous form?!

Anyway, think City will likely go in for him if anyone.

With City saying that Tevez wants to stay though (something I am never sure I believe), does that mean Adebayour might stay at Real?

Sheesh Season isn't over and already I frett about who may or may not sign!

Still.. maeh to Distin, if the rumour has meat on the bones as it were, then ok fine, get it done and move on to the real stuff, like a new strikeforce.

R.
