He could be Paolo Maldini for all I care, I'm getting fed up with Harry trying to fill the squad with OAP's putting our long term future in jeopardy. Gallas as good he has been has pretty much ruined Bassong, now we want to do the same to Kaboul, where's that going to leave us in a couple of years time?

Considering Distin's and Gallas's age I think Harry is thinking of the future in regards to Kaboul, Caulker etc. Going out and signing a 22-25 year old defender hardly says I have faith in you does it?

Makes me laugh when people cry & moan & bitch over a bit of ITK about such & such player. The window hasn't opened yet - it's a long way until September. Anything can happen.

Perisic could be on as Dortmund are apparently signing Xherdan Shaqiri(the kid who scored that great goal for Switzerland vs England not too long ago) for around £6m ..

Maybe the Croatian player in ryantegan's ITK yesterday?

Tbh everything I'm reading suggests he is Dortmund bound (yes, I know these things can change quickly). Perisic himself seems to think he will be at Dortmund next season.

"This was my last game for Club Brugge. I have had two great seasons here, but I am ready to make the next step in my career."

"Everybody knows that I have set my sights on a move to Borussia Dortmund. I hope that my transfer will be completed by Sunday. I want to focus on the national side after the weekend and then enjoy a well deserved holiday."

Those quotes were on goal.com dated today.

I think hes got some sort of mental disorder. A shopaholic maybe. Only in the bargain bin.

Yeah it's a tenuous link, Shaqiri plays both left and right so similar kind of players, they could well sign both. It's annoying that Dortmund are picking up these kind of players that'll no doubt be a success then we'll be after them in a couple of years time for 3x the price .. all this while Harry was probably busy tapping up Joey tiffic Cole at the weekend.

I think the real answer fall in between these two responses. Yes, Harry is right we need to add some experience to the squad, however that experienced must be balanced against developing the best of our younger players.

So yes Gallas was a shrewd signing who has helped add a winning mentality to the squad and has been fantastic for us sometimes this season. However with King, Gallas and Dawson, Kaboul's oppourtunities are already limited so bringing Distin to play infront of him will hinder him improving and bringing Distin as a 5th choice Cb does not make sense.

Have people actually seen Distin play this season? I know I see teams from the north west play more than most, but c'mon! He's been excellent this year.

Anyway Pedro Geromel is the defender we should sign. The likes
of Subotic and Hummels aren't moving anywhere.

Wasn't there a fair bit of ITK last summer about him?

How has he done for Koln this season?

Mate, Danny Rose will be immense at LB and did enough vs City and Blackpool to warrant being thrid choice LB. What did he do wrong in your opinion?

Mate, Brett is just being sarcastic , and i agree with him in as much as buying players like Hreidarsson, Distan, are stopping players like Rose , Caulker, being giving some game time

Or to look at it another way, our manager has ruined what hope there might have been for Bassong by choosing to play the ponderous Dawson next to Gallas instead of him or Kaboul when all available.

Gallas is better than all of them so it's not Gallas that is the problem, it's the poor selection of our manager.

Not that I want Distin either, I think Kaboul is better than him now.

i don't see why we need a CB at all. Dawson, Gallas, King, Kaboul, Caulker, Khumalo, Huddlestone. I'm pretty happy with that myself, and i'm sure Sandro or Walker could do a job there if we were really stuck. Agree with people here that signing old cover like Distin is simply holding our younger players back, and they may not stick around if that continues to be the case. Mabbutt's been out in SA talking up Khumalo, lets hope it's not just a press pleaser.

PS. at least 50% of the ITK so far has been completely false according to my source. Lukaku? NOT A CHANCE! Harry vs Levy has very much begun. If I was HR I would stop running my mouth to the press about lack of funds if he wants a job in the morning. Unless of course he already has something else lined up. DL will not put up with it much longer.

Who are we going to sign then, according to your source?

Distin would be a poor signing imo, I'd much prefer us to make moves for someone like Gary Cahill if we really need to go get another CB.

On a side note, Fabio Borini, the young lad on loan at Swansea from Chelsea has said he will be leaving them in the summer and wants to play for Prem team. He's shown some serious class, scored all kinds of goals and is still young. If we can't get Lukaku, which is likely, then maybe he's the way to go to mould for the future.

Still trying to claim Bassong and Kaboul are so undoubtedly better than Dawson? Oh dear.

Kaboul definitely is. Bassong is debatable - and I have always said I have doubts about Bassong too, my point was that we will never know whether Bassong could be better because he will never get selected ahead of Dawson, despite the fact that on most days he's at least equally valuable to a team.

Which has nothing to do with Gallas, who deserves to play on merit, but on our managers assessment.

But keep trying....you'll say something useful one day.
