I think Levy will go all out to get
Illarramendi.
The number of shirt sales with his full name on the back will more than cover for the transfer fee and wages.

You think too highly of him... We will end up with no one or a Stambouli and ask Poch get it solved.

I think he was making a joke about the number of letters on the shirt, if you had to pay for the name on the back. Being long. Charging per letter. That would be expensive. See?

On Asier Illaramendi:
Illaramendi would probably be ideal to help anchor our midfield somewhat more. But is he the tackler / shielder we need? He seems like a Carrick to me (in which case I'd say ideal) but I've hardly seen him play so don't know. Would be nice to have this one wrapped up soon.

On Berahino:
I think the Fazio->WBA talk is encouraging. Has any ITK suggested a single deal?

Don't underestimate how important it is to have a midfielder who can read the game as well as he can and can position himself correctly to snuff out any danger. None of our current midfielders know how to play this position, Illaramendi is adequate. His excellent positioning allows him to intercept key passes, springing a counter attack.

What I'm wondering is if Illarramendi was the player JJ was previously being hush hush about. Not giving a name, telling Gards to zip it, etc.

If so I guess we're a little more confidant of it going through if the ITK's are willing to be open about who it is now.

From COYS (LedleyKing76):

Hello all, I moved from London to the midland 6 years ago and I don't live far from St George's training complex.

Yesterday I bumped into a guy who was here for a week doing some training..
I spoke to him and he gave me this

On Potch

Levy loves Potch for three reasons

Potch wants to bring kids through the ranks "as we have seen" he loves the coaching part of the game. Ali and Prichard are doing lots of training with the first team and Potch wants them to burst onto the scene late September early October when they are ready. We will see more of them in EL for now.

Potch doesn't want to spend big money, a bit like Wenger at the scum. He doesn't hound levy for money and wants to make a profit every year. But he doesn't want to be at a selling club and is happy how levy try's to keep hold of big players.

Levy also likes the tactics and training regime that Potch had brought into the club.

Transfer rumours

he is sure we will buy at least one more striker but we need Ade gone first, Ade is keen on West Ham but since the Olympic stadium bid Levy doesn't want to loan him to them. Villa wanted to buy him but we would have had to pay a big percentage of his wages. Levy and Potch both want Ade gone.

All interest in Lennon has dried up, Spurs are asking what other clubs say is to much money.

The same with Townsend Southampton wanted him but Spurs were asking far to much money.

That's all I got, he doesn't work for Spurs but has friends that do.

Levy might like his tactics but a few members of staff have questioned Poch's tactical awareness. However they're full of praise for his Pre-season training.

If Ade decides to dig his heels in and ends up staying, is Levy going to demand that Poch integrates him with the squad?

The answer is no.

A new striker is essential before the window closes, regardless of what happens with Ade.

I agree that we'll get a striker regardless of Ade going or not, but I suspect that him staying might have an impact on the quality of player we can sign elsewhere in the squad.

Is he not as good at doing that as Carrick or Schneiderlin?

I think he has Illarra on his shirt, at least he did at Real. Though, I wouldn't put it past Levy to ask him to change that and use his full name!

I was also being sarcastic base on the transfer behavior pass season. So don't hold any high hopes... It's all up to Levy if he backs Poch.

Well I had come to term with his rigid 4231 despite he has the options to go fairly defensive on a 4321 and go for counter attack without Mason and Kane. Despite his humble cv, I will support him if he learns his mistakes..... Though only a few more games.

His in-game management does seem to leave a fair bit to be desired. Definitely a training ground manager. Odd when you consider he played at a high level. Hopefully it's something he improves upon.
