Agreed. I mean you NEVER get a chairman say he won't sell for him to eventually sell. That never happens. Not even to Spurs three times.
Tbh everytime someone like Levy says it we all know that usually means the player will be sold for ridiculous millions

That's a fact is it?

Based on my recollection of how things transpired. Of course, my wife has claimed that I have the memory of a gnat, so...

He was sensitive to how people viewed him and his info, and I believe he didn't like how things played out after the Willian saga. The massive shitstorm that followed it led him to go back into the shadows from whence he originally came.

POTL...if you're reading this, then no offence! ;)

I do miss POTL - i always hope that somewhere he has re-incarnated as another poster because always had faith in him. May have lead us on a merry dance with Blue + Yellow and Willian may have gone tits up but thats the way it goes sometimes.
I always got the feeling the POTL enjoyed his 'celeb' ITK status a tad too much (a tendency which contributed to him being so broken after the Willian affair where he experienced the other side of the adulation/abuse coin). His posts always seemed to me to be more about how he enjoyed the attention paid to him dispensing whatever information he had (be it cryptic or not) rather than just having a genuine desire to share what he could with his fellow Spurs fans.

My favourite bits of ITK are where info is just delivered straight down the line (good news or bad) with no cares about the reaction it might get - Trix and JJ are both ace in this respect. "Here's what we can tell you, it's up to you what you make of it": that's how I think ITK is presented at its best.

Makes me think his confidence is based on actually "knowing" what Berahino wants. I just hope he's not setting himself up for a fall given the way things have gone for Jasper lately.

He's certainly not setting himself up for a fall. Regardless of whether or not we sign Berahino I appreciate the information and believe that he would only make this statement if he was very confident. Also things can change as transfers are very complicated so the slightest problem could blow the ITK out of the water but it doesn't mean it wasn't correct at the time of posting

I just figured he (or his source) got exposed that was that.

hertyid on SB/ghostos info: What I've heard too if it's worth anything. To be fair to the WBA Chairman he basically said as much "we live in an age where no club can say never"....

Matter of time now.

Dude, it's never a good idea to be that specific about a transfer. Not because you and I and other sensible people don't appreciate the information, but because in the past we've lost people like POTL (one of my absolute favourite ITKers) because people haven't been quite so understanding in the aftermath.

Bingo.

It's sad because folks who provide info shouldn't have to worry about how it's received because they're afraid of some f**kwits who can't control their reactions when a move doesn't pan out exactly like they thought it would.

hertyid on ilaralmendi: Afraid nothing on that one my end. I can't even pronounce his name!
thanks for the info! hardly surprising. if... and that is a big IF... we are interested in this dude, I would not be surprised if it was being pursued on the down low. as in, maybe only a small cadre of people are privy to what's going on. far too sensitive of a target to open the tent too wide.

In the ever changing world of ITK you must be very, very sure if your info if you are going to be so definite.

Look at the poor case of Mrs A&C. She now has a castrated husband to attend to because he put his balls on the line all for a little bit of ITK.

But then again it's like a stand they have to take. The fact that they even mentioned it at all is a bit weird as players are bid for and those bids are rejected all true time but only get speculated in the press and not on club website.

Two things this is either to drive up price and interest from others OR it's a thing the chairman can use to say "well we got the best deal we could" for a player that many of their fans like. They wouldn't have bought quite so many strikers me thinks if they thought he was staying but this is all speculation but I have a strong hunch we could be getting our man

Yep, I reckon West Brom are hoping for a bidding war to up the price. Shouting out our initial bid, which they've rejected, is making sure the United's or the City's know what we've bid in a hope they come in even bigger. No one else has clearly showed an interest or bid so far IMHO, hence the statement today.
