I don't use twitter and so don't really post in that thread but it is a very active thread and fun to read. I can get my transfer fix pretty much constantly all day even if most of it is nonsense. Let's face it, the internet is full of mostly nonsense.

So what do you want the thread to look like? Where should that conversation go if not in there?

Just asking.......

It's a thread which needs to be kept on topic.

As do all of them in here. They're so fast paced that stuff gets mixed up amongst Huddlestone's best position in the team and the fact that Wigan are signing someone from Utah. Or some shit like that. People moan when it's shut, people moan when it's open, people moan when they can't spam, people moan that we don't moderate.

People moan. So we're doing it our way.

If you want to talk about this, then PM me.

i don't see the sense in spending as much on moutinho as we sell Modric for. no where near as good. A miserable Modric is still better than Moutinho. I hope the decision makers agree.

A miserable Modric played against City and United in the opening fixtures last season. He was sulking and useless.

A friend has been emailing me this morning as he went to a Graham Roberts dinner evening a couple of weeks ago and wrote me the following things. Take with a pinch of salt, i'm not claiming to be "ITK", or is he, just what Roberts was saying...

I went to an Evening with Graham Roberts the other week and found out some interesting information regarding the mighty Spurs.
Apparently, the reason Bale has signed a new contract (100k a week) is because he has been told there is significant investment coming into the club. This is also apparently why we will be able to afford Adebayor.
Allegedly a consortium is going to be buying out Daniel Levy's controlling stake in the club and there are also going to be naming rights on White Hart Lane, the existing stadium not the new stadium and this is supposedly worth millions and millions.
Interesting stuff.

He also said that AVB had the job about 12 days before it was announced and he had been planning during that time which is probably why Bale signed just before AVB was announced and also why Gylfi Sigurdsson signed on the same day that AVB was unveiled????
He also shed light on the Redknapp sacking. Apparently Levy and Redknapp fell out in January because Redknapp wanted Tevez and Gary Cahill but Levy would not sanction either deal because of the costs. Probably explains why we ended up with Nelsen and Saha!!!!!!
Then when Redknapp was saying it was up to the chairman re his new contract to the TV cameras it wasn't quite true. The last straw was allegedly when Redknapp text Levy demanding a new contract be sorted out whilst Levy was burying his mum. That was the last straw.

Please don't shoot the messenger :)

Thanks for passing on the info.

Reading between the lines alot of that is probably quite true but I thought it was quite well known that Graham Roberts is not ITK in the slightest. In fact, if I remember rightly he is not even welcome at White Hart Lane for some reason or another? Maybe someone can expand on this?

I was with you right up until this bit. I'm not sure Harry could operate a speak 'n' spell, let alone send a text.
Harry can't send texts can 'e? "I can’t work a computer, I don’t know what an email is, I have never sent a fax and I’ve never even sent a text message. I have a big problem, I can’t write so I don’t keep anything."

I think the bit about Levy's stake being bought out is noteworthy. Given the things going on in his personal life, I hope we're not going to be losing our chairman on a long-term/permanent basis.

.... there are also going to be naming rights on White Hart Lane, the existing stadium not the new stadium and this is supposedly worth millions and millions.

This suggests there will be another investor for the new stadium. Or a separate deal, at least. Maybe an extension of the WHL naming.

Either way, a lot of money incoming.

I agree 100%, but the ITK about the investment was that the investors wanted DL to stay as chairman. Let's hope it's true.

I really hope that's true. I just hope that the decision isn't out of Levy's hands; whatever the reasons are. Doesn't bear thinking about really, so I'm not going to think about it. ;)

The other factor on Ade that should not be forgotten is the African Cup of Nations. We simply CANNOT afford to only have Ade on our books as the 1 top striker. It would be suicide of the highest order as we KNOW there is a good chance he is off for a period of at least a month. Let alone other periods due to fatigue, form or injury.

We need another top or close to top striker and to be rotating. So we have to assume that this is somehow in the works too, though whether that's Leandro or anyone else is a guess that belongs elsewhere eh...!?!

Hey, if it's good enough for Spain to win a European Championship, then if need be why couldn't we pull off the 'fake number 9' system, or 4-6-0 as it is also known... The Spurs XI tried it the other day didn't they, Bostock in as a striker... ;)

Supposedly he still has contacts at the club, but no idea if true or not! As I said, this is just what he said at an evening dinner so can't guarantee how reliable the information is from him :)

He does have contacts who work for the club, ex team mates. He's also the main supplier of info to Alan Brazil.

edit: Rolling Thunder was my favourite arcade game from my youth...

Still think if you'd just let JJ carry on with his Q&A's this whole twitter nonsense wouldn't have happened.

It's actually nothing to do with that. It's about the way the Twitter Thread's being used generally. I love you Bear, but trust that we know more on this than you.

No, he only played in one of those matches I think and the entire team was useless.

You're right. He was sulking and wasn't available for the first game and needn't have bothered in the second. Once all the transfer childishness went away he had a good season. For what it's worth I don't think he's worth the £30-35m we might get for him. He will need to develop elements of his game at Real Madrid or he will be a bit part player like so many midfiders on their payroll.

I agree with Stoof... the Twitter thread, whilst having a little more leeway, was fast becoming unreadable. Far too hard to keep track of tweets and way way too much OT opinions on everything.

I didn't mind it too much to begin with, but it was growing so fast due to utter tripe being posted that it was just impossible to wade through it all.

Not knocking, but we can put quite a lot of that Graham Roberts info to bed.
If the info is a couple of weeks old then the investment story is the same as the one that was bandied around then, and we've seen nothing come to fruition yet. Regards the demise of Redknapp:

The last straw was allegedly when Redknapp text Levy demanding a new contract be sorted out whilst Levy was burying his mum. That was the last straw.

I think it was more straightforward than that. The day after we heard here about Levy's mum, Redknapp came out and said 'Spurs need to get my contract sorted ASAP', I think in his Sun column. Talk about insensitive timing! I thought myself that that was the precise moment he signed his own warrant and getting Stretford to negotiate didn't exactly strengthen his hand.
The idea that AVB was effectively hired far before it being official holds plenty of weight too. It took forever to make known what 90% of us on here had suspected (The 10% having placed Blanc wagers :) )

Anyway, old news really.

This investment malarkey is quite funny as the most trusted itk says he knows nothing about it and also that we can't afford Loris and Mourtino, yet people on here ignore that and go for the investment dream.

I don't know one way or the other but if JJ is the main man at the moment surely we should write off the idea of investment.

Very much doubt it, he burnt his bridges with the club by slagging us off after he left and there's none of his contemporaries still at the club and even fewer people who'd want to know him anyway.
Basically he got to a point where he had no work due to his attitude and lack of ability and so decided to make a living commenting on Spurs.
Big favourite of Talksport...I rest my case.
Good to see Lloris and Moutinho are still on even if their clubs are being silly on the price at the moment.

Twiitter's shown that the whole Q&A thing was clearly a bad idea which is why we weren't keen on it in the first place. JJ's exposed himself as occasionally fallable and Aqkayid's exposed himself as a talkative drunk ;-)
