Just heard tarbaat say that he has a 40pc sell on fee to spurs when he leave QPR. Great work by Levi, especially as he is being linked with a 10m move to Newcastle!

:hump: I think the boy's good enough to play for RealBarcelonaMadrid. Arrange a transfer for £40 million immediately.

I really don't see us buying any top players until the very end of the transfer window when the big teams with the big squads start offloading players at a cut price fee.

We HAVE to shop in the discount rack and get another VDV deal.

This seems to be the truth. Despite rumours that we were slapping in £35m bids for strikers on deadline day in January (I don't believe it personally).

We're trying to get bargains. Unfortunately when you go shopping in Primark you're never gonna quite make it to the runways of Milan, Paris, New York, etc. Not on a regular basis anyway.

No I think we'll get a marquee signing (hopefully the #9 we all want) fairly early and an exciting youngster (leandro?) thats the tottenham way.

Beyond that I think there is definate value in use holding the rest of our cards close to our chest and keep a squad place or two free until the big boys have blown their loads and sat on 26-27 players and picking up a bargain or two.

I hope you're right - but what marquee number 9 will we sign, realistically?

Leandro is a realistic option, but I don't see us getting a Falcao... maybe Adebayor is an option? Depends if City will play ball with us?

He may be a good player and a great signing, but I wouldn't call Leandro a marquee signing. Most people hadn't heard of him a few months ago.

No, I know. I was responding to the previous comment saying we'll sign a marquee number 9 plus Leandro.

I personally think Leandro is a realistic signing - but the mythical "Marquee number 9" is a tough ask. Falcao, et al, are out of reach for us, maybe.

Trouble is, Modric will be off before we get a chance to do that. His shot across the bow means we need bold and decisive action asap.

You can't have Fellaini and Disco Benny in the same team though, that amount of Afro in such a small area will create some sort of vortex

How many times have we picked up a bargain at transfer end? Almost never. VDV was lucky as hell. The rest of the time, we wait for these supposed bargains, but end up missing out on players because their clubs decide not to sell because they have no time to replace them.

Our best buys (Berbatov, Modric etc...) are usually when we identify a realistic target with talent and go after them.

I'd prefer to pay fair value and actually get a player we want, rather than faff around (like we have almost every window) and end up with f*** all and a disaster on our hands - like this year was missing the top 4.

Sorry, I didn't read that properly.

I think we are still quite a big draw, especially after our European performances last year. We aren't the top draw, but we are probably near the top of the next tier. Who we can attract will obviously depend on which other teams are trying to sign players in the same area. We may actually be lucky this year as Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City & United might stay out of the striker market this year.

No worries mate!

I hope you're right. I would love to think we could get that striker (or strikers, even better!) which is a notch above what we've got.

The players we've been linked with Falcao, Rossi, Adebayor. One of those plus Leandro I would be absolutely delighted.
