I think there might be something in this line of reasoning. I say sell him if a really good offer comes in.

Oh and as pointed out by Starting Price .... I don't want them to leave!!!!!

It would however, make financial sense with the new rules. As in, receive huge fees for them now, then use the money to invest in 4 quality players .... so when the rules come into play, we'll have an awesome squad capable of challenging for the top 4.

But Daniel Levy has stated publicly, too many times that NONE of a our star performers will be sold. I tis highly unlikely that he would survive as Chairman, or ever be taken seriously again if he did, if he sells any of our star performers this Summer - and any attempt to explain it by pointing to absolutely fantastic deals that were to the benefit of the club would be portrayed as mealy-mouthing. He has staked his reputation on not selling any of them - so it doesn't matter if you or I or everyone on SC thought it was a great deal.

VDV is getting on a bit and just had a good season so lets knock him out for a good profit - and Modric clearly we can get a good price for if we can get an auction going - Bale well those Italians are desperate for him so thats another big earner - excellent loads of dough and NO TEAM!!!!:duh:

No it's cool, we'll have 100 million in the bank and keep hold of Jermain Jenas.

Jeans is one of the few that I think some sides still look at and think that with a bit of policshing his turd might shine.

Yea I agree, with regular football at a slightly lower level club than us I think Jenas could totally revive his career.

Best thing for everyone all round for him to move on.

His energy and stamina would make him a big hit in Seria A but also a team like Sunderland, Villa or Everton (or indeed Fulham) he would be a big hit I believe.

Would give out totally the wrong message selling any of our top players, sure the money would be good but it would mean starting again when we actually have the team built now, we just need that all important striker.

Yeah cos levy and co read what's on here don't they

Would'nt surprise me if clubs monitor fan sites like this, in fact, i'd me more shocked if they did'nt.

As for Bale, as some have already said, if the price and package is right, then i'd be tempted to sell.

Personally I would take Johnson, Ade and 30 million for Bale. I'm not convinced he will be able to make the same mower in games where teams make special provision for him.

From what I've seen of Johnson, he may not be as quick but possibly has more skill and still beats players with ease.

Bale is likely to get shifted to LB to try and counter teams doubling up on him. 60million is then an awful lot of money for a LB.

This is going to be a sink or swim season for Bale but, even if he has a great season, he still won't be worth more than 60 million. IMO his value will only go down and there is a distinct possibility that he will be worth a great deal less this time next year...

Bale has a magic about him though, he can turn it on when you really need it, whether it be a goal or a cross begging to be tapped in by our dismal strikers. i don't think johnson has magic, he's quality no doubt but he will never be world class.

I think you're right about that, if he stays here, Bale won't be on the world stage like he was last season, and there isn't really anything he can do to increase his value, except score 12 goals in the epl or something

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. Of course I want us to be very rich and wealthy, but only have a team of 14-year olds to put on the pitch. You really got the essence of what I was trying to say.

But, as has been stated repeatedly, Daniel Levy has backed himself into a corner on this one. .

Very unfair to say he has backed himself into a corner, which suggests something of a retreat.

He has simply come out and made the club's position clear. He knows that he has the finances and players' long term contracts in his favour to allow him to do exactly what he has stated and not sell the players.

Everyone seems to think that if a player hands in a transfer request ,a club has to sell but there are loads of examples where this isn't the case (Gareth Barry, Tevez) and there transfer values hardly went down !

Losing Bale wouldn't upset me like losing Modric would, I think finding a replacement for Bale is far easier. I think selling Bale for 50m would be a good deal and then getting Marin in.
