Chiriches, Townsend and someone like Dembele are all examples of players I think we wouldn't be too keen on selling, but would if we were pushed.

I don't think we need MS that bad if any of the three above have to go in the other direction. It's interesting that Southampton aren't asking for Lennon, Chadli or Dawson. We're going to be stuck with them at this rate

Why would we sell players that arent on the 'not wanted' list. Surely selling players we want to keep just to buy more players is fucking retarded.

Frankly, I would rather rather Levy just lowered the asking price and take a hit and think a bit more long term.

That ITK makes me feel very uncomfortable. Selling players we wouldn't be looking on selling just to bring in players. It all stinks of balancing books and it's hard to imagine anything but a not particularly overall improved squad at end of it. I'd assumed the 7 leaving some were youngsters, to leave us a strong 23 with a couple extra. As it stands we have 25 players who'd I consider good enough, that allowed one in one out and leaves us with strong and rightly sized squad to compete in PL and EL.

I think I'd rather stick with what we have than sell players we don't want to sell in order to get players in..

I don't think its quite as clear cut as that. The info isn't saying that we might have to sell players we don't want to...its saying we might have to consider others who arn't on that list of seven.

So if we drafted up a list of seven, there might also be some players who arn't on that list but still have a question marks beside them etc.

It doesn't mean we'd have to start selling the likes of Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen etc. That would be entirely different.

Other than last seasons mass influx of new players, this window sounds like every other window, a shambles. Losing faith in signing MM, going round in circles with MS, and after Saturday's bore fest, we desperately need a match influencing/winning left sided forward, yet we've only been half heartedly linked with no frills Remy.

little update from atlanta yid:
Nothing new but just to reconfirm what has all ready be posted
So just a snippet my friend is with JL all week so I am pressing hard for a little info
Be patient....
We are working hard to unload up to seven players many of the names have already been published in the press.
It will come down to the last few days to secure our targets
IMHO Doesn't look good if some of the seven don't want to leave it might mean we have to sell players that aren't on that list

Interesting, did not expect the last sentence. That means Poch and/or Baldini and/or Levy want some new faces as badly as we do. I wonder how far they are willing to go with players that aren't the seven...

I've never found any of our transfer windows to be "shambolic"- Southampton's transfer window this summer has been exactly that.

I honestly don't know when we've had a truly shambolic window. The Saha+Nelson one maybe? Even when we didn't get Moutinho, the window was nowhere near shambolic.

I worry if we have to sell anyone that's not on the original list to sell.

IMO we shouldn't sell anyone not on the list.

I really don't understand why some are fretting over the latest ITK.

I'm sure we've drafted up a list, like the ITK alludes to, of the players we'd ideally sell. But its not always as simple as that is it? Finding buyers who will meet Levy's demands and persuading the player to downsize contract wise is not exactly an easy process.

All the ITK is saying is that we might consider offers for players that arn't on our 'ideal list' to sell. So for instance...say a very respectable offer came in for Dembele, just for example sake, and Pochettino/committee discussed it and Pochettino had reservations about how best to use him in his style etc...you can see why it might be considered.

Its not saying we're about to start sellling our best players to get targets in.

You're either a poor judge of time or your jokes are bad. However in 8 days time it will be my 10 year anniversary on SC. No wonder my education went down the pan :D

10 years for me too September 2nd.... Christ my daughter wasn't even born.

Anyhoooo, I don't think we need to panic just yet. There's nearly two weeks of the transfer window left yet.

On the one hand you got people saying we should just pay the clubs and players that little bit more to do the deal. On the other there's people moaning that the fringe players we've got are on too much money to go to clubs more suiting their abilities. We can't have it both ways.

Selling Keane and Berbatov and replacing them with Pav and Fraser Campbell on loan should go down in the dictionary under the definition of shambolic.

It's a nice optimistic way of looking at it but it didn't say 'ideal list'. Ignoring Eriksen, Lamela and Vertonghen that leaves most of others. Besides the point selling players who weren't on list to sell is a ridiculous policy. Not saying is the case but you name Dembele swap that for Capoue and not sure you'd feel as good.

Yep, I'll give you that one as well. He was suggesting that every window (apart from last summer) has been shambolic which is a load of tosh.
